octave box for bass guitar
Hi chaps - I'm playing bass in a classic ld vox, guitar, bass and drums rock band and want to get a bit more 'fill' when mr. ld guitar goes wandering off into bidda-bidda-bidda-bidda land... I have a pretty decent rig and a 5 string bass so an octave box that does just the octave above woud be great - any suggestions? Kits?
Re: octave box for bass guitar
my favorite is the digitech whammy cause it tracks amazingly, and does the octave up thing. other units usually only do an octave down and i don't like sliding up the octave and then letting a box play the octave i WAS playing.
Re: octave box for bass guitar
Thanks Chuck - since building a coupla amps I'm more in the mood for making one... unless it's more ball ache than it's worth - any classic circuits worth considering?... :D
Re: octave box for bass guitar
Classic circuits tend not to track well.
There's the Green Ringer, which is an octave up. Pretty ugly sounding.
For more modern stuff, there's the Micro-POG. I use one in my acoustic rig from time to time for faux 12-string and bass parts. It also does an interesting organ simulation.
Re: octave box for bass guitar
i have one, but the power adapter needs to be fixed. other than that it tracks decent, but i haven't had good luck with EH pedals.
Re: octave box for bass guitar
In general, I don't like E-H stuff either, but this fills a niche.

i liked it when it worked.
