Vintage Alnico Jensen C15N vs. P15N?
Anyone able to quantify the differnces to expect. I just oredered a pair of 60's C15n 50 watt Jensens for my 215 Cabinet.Could be just what the Doctor ordered. If not, I won't have too much into them.
The P15N Jennies are waaay more expensive. Are they that much bettah?
Re: Vintage Alnico Jensen C15N vs. P15N?
It all depends upon what type sound you are trying for. The smooth cone P15N are the coveted ones. The ribbed are too bright/strident/crackly. The smooth ones are the sh*t - for old school blues and low-med vol jazz type sounds... ;-)
ps - remember I am a Weber 'dealer' and can offer a discount. f you buy an old speaker factor in the cost of a recone...

There's more than just the smooth cones. Gris is right, though, different eras of P15N's had different cones.
If going with a 15" smooth speaker cone, though, doping is a really good idea. All those square inches of undamped resonance......
