SNGD
Sorta new guitar day. The wood for my scratch build Korina LP Special is ready to ship! Really cool cathedral grain on the body blank. Why Korina? Wanted a mahoganyish tone without killing endangered central American rainforests.
Having last second second guesses over pickups. A scratch build is a big commitment and wondering if I'll get more mileage out of P-90's or Humbuckers? Not too late to make a change obviously.

Re: SNGD
I love my Korina. Great sounding wood.
What are you planning for a fingerboard?

Re: SNGD
Rosewood with dot inlays. May or may not do neck binding, haven't decided yet.
Might also do a doublecut but I'm not sure how I'd like the neck pickup scooted back further like they are on the doublecuts and the SG's.

Re: SNGD
Double cut usually makes for a weak neck joint if you have a rhythm pickup.
I'd be tempted to put a P90 in the neck, and a bucker in the bridge.

Re: SNGD
I like the look of the doublecuts better but verdict is still out on the neck pickup. Gonna have to youtube some more to hear the neck pickup on the doublecuts and SG's. I really like the neck pickup sound on singlecut Les Pauls, not sure i want to get the doublecut if the neck pickup doean't sound as good. Waffling on the pickups in general but probably will stick with dual P-90's. I won't need two korina guitars with Humbuckers in the bridge.
