Happy Mothers Day, Motherf****rs.
Today, I'm going to call my Mom and let her tell long stories for the second time, and I'll do it without complaining. She's 81 and still as sharp as she was at 50, and I'm lucky to have her around.
I have to finish grading for the end of the semester, and then I plan to help a buddy set up his pedal board. And if the muses visit, I'll do a bit of writing.
I think my mother and daughter are visiting. This is peak allergy season for me so I'm kinda hiding from the beautiful weather. :mad:
Not to sound all mushy and such.... But.....
Having lost my mother back in '84, I still miss her daily. She taught me to read and write before I ever entered school. Taught me to read music at an early age and introduced me to classical music as a child. Also showed me how to service tube driven devices like radios and TV before transistor driven devices appeared for mass sales later. She'd take the tubes to the supermarket in town and test them right at the store and was able to buy tubes there as well. She would have made a pretty good amp tech! Her knowledge and values were shared with me and I absorbed as much as I could. She never spoke against another with an angry voice, yet stood her ground and would literately shoot you stone dead if you intended to harm anyone of her's. Yeah, beauty, strength, character, wisdom, and unconditional love of her own. That sums up my mother. So to those that still have their mothers and live close to them go she her today. If she lives far away, do call and thank her for your very existence and all she did for you......
I remember those days......every Wynn-Dixie, Piggly Wiggly, and A&P had a tube tester up at the front of the store near the registers, with a big cabinet of new tubes next to it. You could buy a couple of black-plate RCA 6L6GC's for about eight bucks. Oh to have a time machine......!Quote:

Mom isn't feeling that great today, didn't go to her usual 10:30 Mass. Might not even go out to lunch with my brother since the place they were originally planning on going to isn't open on Sundays.
Luckily, I'm glad to have the old lady still around.
Me and my old man got her some nice flowers this morning, and we had our family lunch all together. Just fine, as it should be.
Too bad I couldn't have my daughter with us but she's with her mother and her family, it's all right. I'll be with her tomorrow, and we'll have pizza for dinner together after her class, our favorite dad and daughter program.
My daughter loves the music I love and play. She's only 7 years old, but already knows what she likes, and no matter what music is on my car stereo when she gets in, whe'll ask me to put Led Zep or the Rolling Stones on and crank it up. :appl:

You'd be outta luck Roger. Without IC circuits and transistorized assistance your NOS time machine wouldn't transport you into the last five minutes let alone fifty or more years back. The space program didn't run on tubes.... But you'd look cool though with all the tubes glowing and such. Kinda like a nostalgic static light show display. :arhhh::laughing:Quote:

And as far as the Pluto fly-by, one wonders what the "crew" of that craft will find. WHOOPS......it's unmanned. Just like every other space initiative since the US no longer has a viable man-rated space vehicle. NASA in recent years has been nothing more than a jobs program to be punted about by congressional representatives looking to bring home pork for their districts. And now the agency is merely a shill for proggies pushing the global warming myth and muslim outreach programs.
