Remembering Guitarists We Lost In 2023
Guitar World "magazine" has an article titled "Remembering guitarists we lost in 2023" and it's quite a list! I admit there are musical genres I don't listen to (and the list doesn't even cover classical or international musicians) but some are instantly recognizable, such as Jeff Beck, David Crosby and Gordon Lightfoot, but on the list are also Gary Rossington, David Lindley, Tim Bachman, and -- much to my surprise -- Tony McPhee (when I lived in Europe, I really like The Groundhogs, fronted by Tony "T. S." McPhee. I didn't know he had passed!).
As we usher out 2023, taking a moment to say farewell to those who entertained us, taught us, inspired us, and showed us the way, is a moment well spent.

That list is likely and sadly to be longer in 2024. Many of our heroes are in their 80s. It's interesting how vibrant many still are. Stones touring with Keef at 79? Mick still sounds great to me, much better than many his age. McCartney and Ringo? Even though McCartney's voice is shoddy now, he's still doing 3 hour shows (who thought they'd see the day when Ringo sings better than Macca?)

The 2 that rocked my world were Jeff and Gary. Gary’s mansion is currently up for sale.

Jeff Beck was hard to take. He wasn't that old

Yeah. That was really a pretty punk way to start off 2023.
