Re: Can I fake a Princeton?
If you are patient, you can pick up a used Princeton Reverb reissue for less than a grand. Closer to $850, actually. I bought a Limited Edition blonde PRRI for 900

I am just a home player and dropping $1500 is a bit steep for me.
So, probably like everyone else, I am exploring cheaper options.
I really liked the GC version with the Jensen P12Q speaker.
my question is… can I get a Blues Jr. and stick in a P12Q to get close?
I have tried the 10inch versions but they just sound small and boxy to me.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
A Blues Jr is a whole different kind of amp. They run EL84 output tubes amongst a bunch of other differences. I agree, look for a used Princeton. You’ll be a whole lot happier.

You can get a new Princeton Tonemaster for like $750 if you look.
You can afford to buy one on payments, I'd bet. AMS does 12 month payment plans. I bet you could easily pay $425 up front plus another $97/month.
I almost did. I ended up buying a Hot Rod Deluxe instead.
