Are we talkin' guitars or wimmens?
Gimme mo' wimmens!

i meant BOTH... heheheh...
I'm not sure - ten maybe twelve. Mostly MIJers but a couple MIA's and at least one Squire (MIJ). They are all different to some degree so it's not like samethingdifferentcolor. Couple CARs and a couple white but mostly different colors BUT different necks, pups, bridges, electrics. They each sound different. Some're better, but all good. I decided to buy while I could before the prices got stupid, like they are now. Anyway, they don't eat so who cares how many they are? Or what a hack player I am? Toys for an old man that likes cranked amps hahahaha

I once was a confirmed Stratocaster loyalist, from my humble beginnings as a student of the guitar at 13 until maybe my late 20s. My first real Strat was a used 57RI from about 1986, a Mary Kaye model with swapped in nickle plated bridge and tuning keys for the gold. It was not a very good instrument though. Next I had a '79 Stratocaster in natural ash finish which weighed a ton and sounded about the least like a Strat of any guitar I'd ever owned. No matter which pickups were installed. Then I aquired perhaps the best Strat I've had yet, a 1989-90 Grafitti Yellow American Standard that I still kick myself for getting rid of. Other than quick flirtations with SGs here and there I've been strictly into Les Paul Standards for about the last 18yrs. In all that time I've just simply not been able to find the ideal (for me ) Stratocaster. The closest I've played yet have been a Vintage '62 Hotrod and strange for me a John Mayer Strat I played recently. I am seriously considering getting a Thin Skin '61 Stratocaster as I believe overall it may actually be the perfect Strat for me. If it is then my answer to the question posted here 5yrs ago is ONE! The one perfect Stratocaster would suit me just fine.
just one.. until I find I find a lake placid blue one....
Ive been through many, many Strats, but now have "the one". my factory ordered 2011 '60 Custom Shop NOS "NoNeck" Strat, Olympic White, lightweight Alder body, 1-piece maple neck, 9.5" radius, 6130 frets, 3 pos. switch, with my own mod (neck, neck/middle, middle/bridge) nickel/chrome hardware and CS case. I neither need, nor want any other Strat!!!

One strat and one tele.... They are such flexible instruments and you can as much fun just tweaking them, changing config, pickups, pots, necks etc.
Simple, as many nice ones the :wife: allows me to smuggle into the Man Cave...
:salud:
2 Strats and 1 Tele
I am now down to 5
Eric Johnson sunburst
Time machine NOS 56 in see thru white
Hellecaster John Jorgensen Signature
Jerry Donohue Signature with tele pickup
50's classic in Daphne blue, changed pickups
I am back up to 5
Les Paul R7

My gear exceeds my playing by a bunch
This is back? My old handle is up there!
One. Still the same one, too. Although I'm about to change its pickups for the first time in, say, 15 years.
Gravity who?:hi:
So this old thread came back...
I sold the boat anchor '77 Strat.
Got a couple of E series Squiers, sold a couple of those. Kept one black one with rosewood.
Got two MIM classics in three-color sunburst with rosewood.

got a '77 hardtail with trashed finish and maple neck--still in pieces.

MIM classic sunburst stock
MIM classic sunburst with SDs
1984 black Squier
1977 hardtail
the grain in the mexi strat is awesome
I ain't got no Stratocasters... (to the tune of "King of the Road.")
Actually, I got rid of my old and tired AMST in red.
I've always wanted to have a white one, (all-white), a sunburst with maple neck, and an all-black one like the Edge played in the 80's with the big headstock/maple neck/ B/W/B pickguard.
My wife would flip if I came home with 3 new Strats - even if they were all Squiers or Mexis.
That "pepto strat" has been with me halfway around the world and at some of my favorite gigs:

13 and counting.....with NO end in sight!
Always planning for my next purchase!
I now own two and one Tele.
Asking a guitarist "How many guitars would you like to own" is like asking Imelda Marcos "How many shoes would you like to own".
Oh no! don't open the :wife: How many guitars do you need / :bh how many pairs of shoes do you need argument ! :bonk
I've got a USA Artist series, a MIM classic series 50's, & a MIJ late 80's standard. All good players & all different.
( plus a number of others, however this is in the Stratocaster board)
Only one for Strat sounds. Preferably a nice surf-y color. I'm not a collector, nor will I be a mega rock star who needs a ton of guitars to support his touring requirements.
"Oh no! don't open the :wife: How many guitars do you need / :bh how many pairs of shoes do you need argument ! :bonk"
Who's going to start the "who's the best guitarist thread"?
Rick, so you're saying that most guitar players buy guitars out of a neurotic need to demonstrate wealth or power, just as Imelda Marcos obviously bought shoes?
I tend to agree, I'm just clarifying. :)
Now my world is back in balance. I had 2 Teles and one Jazzmaster and now I have traded away one of the Teles for a Strat.
So now I've got a Fender for all occasions. :)
These days the only thing I have with Fender on the headstock is my Strat. I don't play it all that much.
Kap'n.... what are you playing these days?
I've never owned more than one keeper at a time....I've had this one for 30+ years...
Looked around,I now have 5 strats,4 are up and ready.Been playing the '62 carcass lately with the Zhang pups.Haven't weighed it,but it must be 5 lbs. loaded.Super sweet tone! :salud:

I've had some good ones (Strats) over the years and eventually moved them along for something else. No regrets. It's the way it is with us geeter pickers, methinks. lol As we speak, I have a 2010 American Standard Strat coming to me on a trade for a Carvin I had and wasn't playing.
I would think that having that one perfect Strat to capture that Strat thang does it for me. I currently have a Les Paul that is staying with me until I finally make the journey. I also have a Carvin TLB60 that I built and finished from a kit, and that thing is a beast. Another "keeper" with a sound like nothing else. Adding a good Strat will round things out for me. For now. Maybe.
