I just ordered a quarter inch TRS injector jack plug to allow me to spray DeOxit into the inner workings of my patchbay. It is cheaper than buying a new patchbay and by george I hope it works. I've got toys to play with and I want to do some recording without the dang headaches my gear has been giving me lately. Much like an automobile, this stuff doesn't run forever without maintenance just because you love it.
Just got something not exactly guitar related but it's for my live gigs, so...
Light sticks. I play in all kinds of venues and sometimes there isn't any proper stage lighting. Many times the imbecile I have as a singer will unadvertedly tell the house to put the lights off and I can't see the guitar. I want to kill him everytime he does that (I can play rhythm blind, but not lead). These sticks are very practical and beautiful, I crack one and throw it beside my pedalboard: bingo. I can solo.
we'll allow it, that is definitely close enough :biglaugh:
... Really cool too! I love ambient lighting. This seems like a great idea.
does buying a guitar count as guitar-related? :biglaugh:
I've been hankering for a better sounding acoustic since I've borrowed my nephew's pawn shop axe. It has been serviceable and sufficiently capable of inspiring GAS. That buzzing issue is still there and that just isn't going to lend itself to any recording. I've been hearing good things about Blueridge guitars and they've been growing in popularity and, yes, in price. While still a good value, the used stuff was beginning to reflect the (IMNSHO) idiocy of internet used gear pricing. By shifting my sight from a dread to a different model I was able to sidestep some of this pricing madness and get a nice deal on a BR-43, basically a 000 style 14 fret six string. I'm having it sent to my local GC where I'll be checking it out upon arrival.
Looks like I'll be setting up the humidifiers a little earlier than usual this year.
Is it 48 hours from when we paid for the item or after receiving it? :ride
Haven't spent money on gear in a while - the money is going into studio time recording songs instead. It's getting exciting! The guy I'm working with is also working with a producer helping an artist put together an album. They are using a couple of his songs on the record and he is pitching them one of my tunes, as well... Not a lot of chance it will happen, but it's freakin' awesome to see it go that far!
As far as the drinking thing, being married to an alcoholic puts a damper on any interest in drinking - not that I was ever much of one. Never had an interest in trying weed, either... NTTAWWT!
A greater pleasure then buying guitars and gear is... actually using it. Glad to know you're recording and producing music!
I take much more pleasure and pride from gigging and jamming with bands and friends, making my guitars see the road, than from buying them or loading them with accessories. And I do like buying stuff!
New amp mic stand. The old one is so sticky from the gaffers tape holding it together I had to clean my hands with vodka before I could play.
Question here... and I really didin't want to start a thread about it...
Does TFF frown upon members posting about other brands of guitars ( besides Fenders and Gibsons) in regards to NGD threads or members that would simply like to show their guitars?
Thanks if anyone can answer that. I have a couple guitars that I'd like to post about but they're not Fender's nor Gibson's.
I think as long as it's in the whammy bar it should be fine.
whatcha get, huh huh?
That makes me feel a little more confident. Thank you, Dan. I'd like to post my Reverend 12-string electric, Ibanez 6-string bass, Taylor a/e 12-string, Jackson King V, a couple PRS's, and maybe my Carvin 7-string... Maybe not all on the same day though lol.
Awesome! Thank you, Don. Very much appreciate the replies.
I want to see the Ibanez 6 string bass. Is it long scale?
No it's 30" scale! Plays like a dream although a true bassist might not jive too well with it. For someone coming from guitars ( including 7-string) this was a very easy transition. I love it and groove with it frequently... Many times after some particular bass-line has gotten stuck in my head. I looked at 4 and 5 string basses a long time before getting this one although five-string basses are still very intriguing to me. She's pretty too imo... kinda like the girl next door without makeup... and just the same, knows how to have a good time! I'll post her up!
Can we do barre chords? Gollum!
sounds intriguing. sort of like a Fender VI? *scurries to google* Yes, they do !! Ok, now I'm really interested
SRC6?
I'm in the process of building a bass amp for my wife, so yesterday when I saw a CL ad for a Hartke 4-10 XL cab for $50, I bought it.The guy says "one side doesn't work", and came down to $30. I don't know if it has dead speakers, or a problem in the jack/switching. I'm driving down Saturday to pick it up! (120 mi away).
I went to GC today to pick up my guitar. Unboxed it in the store. seemed pretty well packed. no gig bag. Ok, if it passes muster, I'd still take it. Checked it over.
3 large cracks in the top below the bridge to the bottom end, very easily felt with your fingers. Returned it on the spot for credit. Definitely better than getting it at home and feeling like I have to prove that it was damaged before I got it.
the search continues
Yikes! That's the BR-43?
sadly, yes
Ugh!
I love to read about any guitars in here. I am a member of several forums, but this one is my home. I prefer to post anything here.
Btw I myself think we should have an "other guitars" section. Most every guitar forum has it, and we'd have more cool threads!
Speaking of Gaffers tape, I just got myself a fresh roll for my gigs.
Thanks, Sergio. That's a solid idea. It would definitely be nice to have another section for other brands. I guess as long as I don't get in trouble posting in the Whammy Bar, it's all good. By the way... Why couldn't my parents have given me a cool name like Sergio. I'd be more mysterious, wealthier, and would probably have all kinds of groupies. Man I got screwed...
Hahaha it’s quite an ordinary first name here in Latin America...
I’d love to be called Joe or Jerry =D
haha My friends are Tom, Timbo, Danny, Ed, etc. Up here, the name "Sergio" would get recognition!
If you ever read Mad magazine, you've probably laughed a lot with another Sergio's work:

Oh man... yep! That was a completely forbidden publication in my parents home lol. Luckily I had ways around that. The fold-in's were awesome!
My brothers and I grew up on MAD, which probably helps to explain my dark sense of humor. Spy vs Spy was my favorite. It was violently funny.
I honestly think that my mom just hated Alfred's image on the cover lol. I had a 2nd grade teacher that actually ratted me out to my mom after finding me reading the publication in class. I have a small ceramic black Spy figurine in my work-room to this day... Friend of mine has the other white one.
*slightly OT*
all my mags got thrown out without my knowledge. I was sad.
Now of course they're worth money, lot of the William Gaines era ones were rather collectible at one time, reprints might have changed that.
A Space Oddity is still one of my favorite satires.

On Saturday a $50 Hermida EPH-3 arrived and today a $50 Lovepedal Champ arrived. I can't tell a lot about them (I was out at the track on Saturday, sick yesterday and we had no electricity today due to a big storm last night). I played them both through a battery powered Pignose with my new ES-335 today and was really impressed. This might be the best delay pedal I've heard. Just having it on improved the guitar's tone (easy to say considering the Pignose). Inspiring.
The Champ sounded cool too. I had the guitar's volumes set at about 6 for a clean tone, cranked for dirty.
We'll see how they sound with a "real" amp. Tomorrow, I hope.
BTW, the power is back on after about 18 hours.
hahaha me too! I liked Don Martin's drawings and the spies as well but Sergio Aragonés was always my favorite.
I began to read Mad when I was really young. My father would buy them and keep them off sight because he never thought they were appropriate for a boy my age, but I'd always sneak them out anyway.
I think my personality and sense of humour were built out of Mad Magazine, along with Peanuts, Garfield and Astérix comics.
uh... and a lot of porn :bh
I am laughing a lot here. For a long time my avatar in all internet forums and on MSN messenger was Alfred's face.

Oh, man... Haha! I can almost see my mom sneering in disgust at that very picture! Too funny!
Btw... I had many Peanuts books and the complete set of Garfield books when I was a kid!! I think that I aspired to be Linus at one point lmao.
I'd take pictures but I need to polish the frets and oil the board but I saw this gorgeous Squier rosewood fingerboard Stratocaster neck on Stratosphere. it arrived Wed evening .835 at 1st and .919 at 12th fret. 9.5 radius. Nice dark rosewood with good grain. Brand new 2017. The only con is the oxidation of the frets but I've noticed that before on Squier and it's nothing at all to clean them up.
In preparation for the new practice amp that's on its way, I bought a wireless guitar system from XVive. For when I'm in my living room and don't want a mess of cables getting in the way.

someday I'd like to check out a wireless system like that. I hear about compression being an issue but in the recording realm that is not necessarily a bad thing. I could use my bathroom as an iso room with an amp fed by a system like that. I've long wanted to know what an amp sounds like in my glass doored shower.
what does a rig like that go for?
I paid $154.90, which includes shipping (no tax in my state). There's also one by Line 6 in the same price range that's intriguing.

This is the one I bought.

Pat Metheny signature model. Should be arriving tomorrow. MF had a blem for a great price and couldn't resist. Haven't had a true "jazz box" in years, and the urge came on me. Not sure what the "blem" is, but I'll hopefully post pics in a day or two once it arrives. Excited!
@pc, that's a pretty guitar! Simple, tasteful, lustful. Let us know how it plays!
Ibeenhad :biglaugh:
nice, veddy nice
I've been wanting a Rock and Roll Sr. Don't know why but I do. They're hard to score and around 2 large if you do. sigh
belated mention of purchase of plugins from early BF sales.
Oh, trust me. It's guitar related...

My latest acquisition wasn’t exactly guitar related either, but it’s definitely stage related.
I often play live wearing sneakers, mostly Converse Chucks or Nikes, and I am starting to get old. The All Stars are killing my feet and sneakers generally have little or no arch support so my back is whining.
just ordered a new pair of Timberland yellow boots. And I’m seriously considering going Bob Weir and getting myself some Arizona Birks. My aunt was a hippie in the 60s, I have some of it in my blood :D
