I've had several of these as well as a DSL 201. They're fun amps. It's surprising how different the 201 sounded compared to the 401. That one looks pretty clean.

I don't want to buy anything anymore, but I wish I could borrow a Marshall like that occasionally. The Les Paul almost cries for one when I talk to it.
Don, that Jester looks interestesting. Really useful looking boost and od and no-nonsense controls. Price is boutique as hell, though. Worth it, in your opinion?
Another Rickenbacker from Sweetwater. My sales engineer, Kurt Martin, offered me a great price and we closed the deal today! Here's a link to the Sweetwater page showing the guitar:
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...?serial=235786
It depends on what you consider to be "worth it". I have OD pedals that I think actually sound as good, maybe even little better than this one, but the feel and how it reacts to playing is better than any other OD pedal I've used. It really feels connected to the amp. As a "tool" for a working musician, you could save a lot of money and get the job done just as well with a much less expensive OD pedal- unless the feel of the pedal inspires you to play better.
I bought it used for a little less than they sell for new and it was worth it to me.
If you like it, it’s worth it. I thought I was through buying pedals, but I’d like something to give me a Marshall like tone. Doesn’t have to be an exact replication, just something at least close when the Deluxe and Les Paul are doing the deed.
I bought a used Xotic SL drive recently for that kind of sound. They're fairly inexpensive, easy to find, and seem to be really well built. They actually fit a battery in that tiny little thing! I haven't had much time to experiment, but I think it'll get the job done.
I’m thinking of starting a sister thread: What haven’t you bought guitar related in the past 48 hours?
any takers?
I can start it with a 70s Gibson J-200
Oh geez, I may be on that thread a lot.
I traded for this 1998 G&L ASAT Special today. Why'd I wait so long to try one?

G&L—Excellent guitars
As it’s been usual to me, my latest buy wasn’t exactly guitar related, but definitely music related.
I got a skulls and roses sterling silver ring, which I’ll wear in my picking hand when I gig and during photo sessions of my studio work.
Skulls, Roses… Grateful Dead and Keith Richards certainly are references, and I wanted something less flashy than Keith’s skull ring… Plus I like sterling silver. They say it helps keeping werewolves and vampires away, right? :D

Yesterday I ordered this one:
https://strat-talk.com/proxy.php?ima...return_error=1
Gretsch Electromatic Pristine LTD Center Block Double-Cut Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby - White Gold
And this case to put it in:
https://strat-talk.com/proxy.php?ima...return_error=1
Gretsch G6267 16" Thin Hollowbody Case
My Sweetwater team gave me a great deal on this pair.
That's why God invented stainless-steel.
Bought this package yesterday at Chicago Music Exchange:
https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com...placid-1642226
A chat with CME sales rep Kyle H resulted in a price of $599. Should be here by the end of the week.
I'd buy that just for the case!
In route. A maple Guild Jumbo 6 string. Should pair nicely with my maple Guild Jumbo 12.

Got this on Sunday from Amazon. Don't know how I ran across the ad, but since I haven't been playing in quite a while, I thought this might help in the callus dept. It has a 15 pound resistant level. Just after a short use, my fingers hurt, like a lot of practice would.
Jerry
I knew somebody would point out that fact and it's true. However, I use this gadget when I am working at my computer and during the times I'm reading content and only using my mouse (right hand), I toughen up my calluses a bit. Plus, I'm only an at home player, no more shows for me.
Jerry
Really hard to practice vibrato while driving down the road
You could always steer with your teeth, Robert.
:up
So I picked up a strat. I had a couple of different ones, but this one was available locally and I got to lay hands on it before he layed hands on my cash. Fretboard will be getting some oil - it is a little dry and lighter in color than others I had seen but feels great.
As a bass player, I play a little guitar too, and this one should do the deal.

Better pics later I guess.
Not sure - doesn't look like this is working right for me

NICE!
Looks pretty nice! I like the curve they put on those custom shop rosewood lam boards. The stock American Originals, not so much
Gassing on this at the store I consult. It weighs 8.5 lbs. plays and sounds great. Always wanted an Oxblood. It’s behind the counter while I ponder it tonight. Getting a bit of a deal.
https://www.maxwellshouseofmusic.com...lucent-oxblood
I had a Jimmie Vaughn that had a compound radius, although not spec'd that way. I really liked it but reluctantly sold it. This has a MUCH nicer version of that and just feels great.
So of course last night......AFTER I have this, a friend offered to sell me on of his Nash tele's that I always liked. I'm tapped - this got me kind of broke at the time! I'm ok though
Well I’m picking it up. Worked up a better deal last night. The whole thing went down like.
Gibson LP Std in Oxblood. I’ve only seen 2 other Oxbloods in the wild. I’ve always wanted once since I first got Jeff Beck’s Blow by Blow.
As I reached for it I whispered, please be heavy. Nope. Then when sitting down to play it unplugged, I whispered, please play like crap. Nope. Next as I was plugging into an amp I whispered, please sound like crap. Nope. As I talked to the store owner I whispered, please don’t make me a deal. He did.
So I was out of excuses. LOL
Weighs in at 8.5 lbs.

. :up. :roflmao
Sweet!
Nope. It’s why I chose the off shore Guild rather than a USA Guild. It should be paid off on the card next billing cycle.
Also had someone complete the final few bits on a build I initiated about 15 years ago.
So how does the new LP sound?
Initially it sounds great. Haven’t plaited it at length at home as works been busy, life has been busy and I had a couple bass gigs I needed to finish prepping for and perform last night.
Also waiting on a strap and strap locks for it. (All should be here tomorrow). This weekend I have a couple more bass gigs, taxes to finish and 1st yard cut of the year (about 1.5 acres so more than a few minutes). Also have to prep for 2 guitar gigs next week. I plan to use it for the prep and like to give it stage time next week.
Well got home and strap and strap locks arrived today. I’ll spend some time with my wife then get that installed. I’m weird. On my electric gear, I always use strap locks and I prefer a dedicated strap. I’m slacking some on my acoustics as I tend use a specific sort of strap lock for the end pin with the Jack. I’m thinking I sharing straps on them. First world problems.
Oh I also color coordinate straps to guitars. The Burgundy with black works well for the Oxblood. Not much out there. Had to settle for a 2.75 width when I prefer 3 for E guitars.
Before I ordered I held up a black strap against it. So so. Held up a dark brown, chestnut and lighter brown against it. With all 3 of the the Oxblood appeared black. The red strap was glaringly standing out so no go. Deep burgundy seems to win.
The Ox next to its cousin, my R9.
Ox is a 50s profile as well.
Man Oxblood is difficult to capture in a photo.
https://unofficialwarmoth.com/data/a...b0eabf0584.jpg
Strongly considering a LesTremII for the Ox. A subtle use of a vibrato bar is quite useful in a genre I play a large amount of time in. I don’t have the LP tone with a vibrato currently.
Ya just wang on the neck for a vibrato, it's a time proven technique.
Agreed, oxblood is impossible to photograph but sure is beautiful in person. Is it a natural back? Stinger? Inquiring minds you know!
R9 looks like a keeper too. I just cringe when I see them on hangars like that. Nitro doesn't like them, you might want to blacklight the R9 and see if it's reacting.
The Ox is a natural back. Yep I know the trick with the headstock, still thinking a Les Trem II. Hard to do the head stock thing while also picking.
they are Hercules hangers. Been using them for decades. Have had nitro guitars on them for years with no ill effects. I know some cause issues. (My 79 std in nitro hung on a Hercules when not at a gig for decades with no effect)..
I bought this guitar yesterday at Sweetwater:
Gretsch G5655T-QM Electromatic Center Block Jr. Quilt Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar - Speyside
I didn't really need it as I have a G6659TFM already, which is a very similar guitar in the MIJ Proline. I just fell in love with the quilt top on my Speyside version. Can't wait for this one to arrive!
Two weeks ago I bought a Gretsch Electromatic Pristine Double Cut in White Gold.
Gretsch Electromatic Pristine LTD Center Block Double-Cut Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar with Bigsby - White Gold
It is a fantastic guitar and I especially like the P90E pickups.
Both are good looking. Love the quilt one.
I received an order of parts from Mesa Boogie- that I already received a month ago! They re-fulfilled the same order! I guess I'll call them tomorrow.
Marshall announced a major price reduction on Monday that wasn't an April Fools joke. Guitar Center had the 48 month financing so I finally got the vertical 2x12 I've wanted ever since they first came out with the Studio Vintage version. I got the Studio Classic version as it fits the aesthetics of my amps better.
Brand new, in stock at my local GC. On the same page were used ones for 300 dollars more, LOL.
Bought it Wednesday night as the storm was raging, GC was closed today (!) and I fully expected that I'd pick it up on Friday.
With that comes a close to my searching for a 1960 B cab. As much as I'd like to have a full stack, this 2x12 is much more portable and it fits in my office where i'm likely to be playing for the foreseeable future.
Bought this case online last Thursday for my new Gretsch G5655T-QM that arrived yesterday. The case will be here tomorrow (Monday). Got a pretty good deal at $130 delivered.
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/m3EAA...O2/s-l1600.png
No instruments, but related.
Got 2 rolling racks for the garage to store empty cases on. Ordered luggage tags for them to quickly associate them with specific guitars.
Ordered 2 more wall hangers as well as a new black walnut floor stand that should hold 6 acoustics.
This is all to decrease cluttter. The office/music room was getting crowded with empty cases on the floor (as well as the living room). Should all be done in a couple weeks. Need to relocate some guitar art to make room for the 2 new hangers as well.
So I went to a guitar show on Sat morning. I haven't been to one in maybe 20 yrs, & didn't know what to expect. Right off the bat I found an Allparts 21 fret Tele neck (1 pc maple, vee profile, unfinished). $60 & it was mine.
Additionally, I got a 50s style 1 ply pickguard & a 40th anniversary TS9, still in the box w/all the trimmings.
An odd note: the fella that sold me the tele neck had his granddaughter with him, & she had almost a dozen of American Girl dolls on display. I snapped a picture of them & sent it to my oldest daughter & quipped that you find the strangest things at a guitar show. She responded immediately, & had a couple of the dolls circled. "Buy those", she said. I snagged them at $25 a pop. Evidently they are highly sought after
