I listened to the Moody Blues "Long Distance Voyager" tonight, first time I've listened to it in a couple of decades. I love Justin H's guitar playing, and that voice!
When I bought the album, I bought Elton John's "The Fox" at the same time. I asked the clerk what he'd heard about the albums. "Shit," he replied. I bought them anyway and they've always been among my favorite albums. By the way, a year after that, I began working at the record store and eventually managed it and a bigger store for the company. Ha!
Watching and listening to the DVD on this. Most incredible version of Voodoo Chile ever.

I revisited the first album I ever bought with my own money

Sgt. Pepper took the world by storm. Perhaps as a result, The Rolling Stones decided to issue their own "psychedelic" album. It was received with mixed reviews. It was a one-time departure from the norm for the Stones.
The original album release (of which I have a copy) had a "holographic" image of the band on the cover (as poorly depicted in the image above). Subsequent releases used a simple photo.

I started another thread on this, but I'm all about Snarky Puppy lately.

Lately I bought the limited edition vinyl of four McCartney live albums, colored Pink Floyd vinyl of the Wall and The Division Bell, and the new Abbey Road vinyl package.
I love this stuff. Wings Over America is a special album to me. I was digging it. Probably my favorite Wings lineup.
I have this movie on VHS (that's old technology for you younger guys) and revisit it on occasion. Today is a slow day at work, and I wanted to see/hear a young Joe Walsh play his Dan Armstrong lucite guitar.

Sibelius' Third Symphony - a favorite that I hadn't heard in quite a while.

Confession time: One of my "signature" pieces I've played for decades is "Triad" as the way David Crosby plays it on this release. Another piece I have in my always-ready playlist is "Cowgirl in the Sand," the way Neil Young plays it here (both are acoustic renditions). Lately, I've been toying with "Long Time Gone," as a bit of a jam piece.
Man, when these guys were on, they were ON.
Just turned my girlfriend on to Tears for Fears, so we've spent a few days listening. We've also been on a Weezer kick.
This is such a sonic masterpiece to me.

i haven't listened to this in years. Rediscovering how good the other songs are besides just DYFLWD or Lines on my Face or Show me the Way.

As happens from time to time, another thread inspired me to pull out an old album...

Love John Mayall. When i first listened to Beano, I didn't like his voice, but the more I listened, the more I actually like it.
Listen and play. Listen and play. Listen and play.

This morning, we've been listening to Zappa and the 10cc album Deceptive Bends. 10cc has had some big hits, but I don't feel their albums have garnered enough praise and seen for their innovation in songwriting and recording. I've never met anyone really into them, so it feels like they're my own secret.
" I'm not in love " is a classic.
Take care brother, stay well.
Been listening to a lot of Back Door Slam and Davy Knowles the last few days. He's got tone, taste and chops. His voice reminds me of a cross between the Rev and Jeff Healey. Good stuff!!
hah, I listened to that yesterday on my way back home from the mountains (eye clinic)
Jon and Vangelis--Friends of Mr. Cairo--epic song.
Terrific stuff! I've been a fan of Vangelis' for years. I think I'll put on one of my favorites.

And "Spanish Harbor" on this one has some fabulous acoustic/Spanish guitar!

And some beautifully stark, ethereal music on this soundtrack.

The new Who album: The Who. It's a great record, so much better than Endless Wire.
I really enjoy listening to ambient guitar. There's so much intricacy and technology involved in producing what many toss off.
