I want to pickup some CD's of LIVE recordings of artists using Tele's....especially BLUES players.
Any recommendations?

Roy Buchanan Livestock.
Great blues on a couple of the songs.

Check out any live Albert Collins. He'll cut off the top of your head. Alot of players shy away from him because they think it's too hard to cop his licks; open tuning & all. But it can be done. And it's worth it. He got an identification.

If it's the effect I think you are talking about, he is bending the string behind the nut.
There's been many, of course. But I've always liked:
'Sweet Dreams', and 'The Messiah Will Come Again' ~ Roy Buchanan
'Angel Of Mercy' ~ Albert Collins
'Green Onions' ` Steve Cropper w/ the MG's
'In My Room' ~ Danny Gatton
Much of the music by James Burton, Keith Richards, Mike Stern, and even Muddy Waters.
I saw an interview with him where he said he detunes his 3rd string to F#, making a major chord into a minor...and a minor into a form of a 9th chord. I havent tried it yet. sounds interesting though.Originally posted by 71818

I'm not too good at titles but here's a few that haven't been mentioned:
Tab Benoit
Merle Haggard Live at Billy Bob's(?)
Buck Owens Live at Carnegie Hall and LIve In Japan
Jason and the Scorchers have a great live one
The Byrds -- 1969 Live at the Fillmore (w/Clarence White on Tele). incredible player with a great tone.
Yardbirds BBC Sessions is good too. Jeff Beck is probably playing a Tele at least on the first few cuts (then switched to LP?) and the last few cuts are with Page (on a Tele I presume). Amazing tones from both of them.
Good call on the Byrds Ashcaster. Also check ou the Byrds' "Untitled" for more live Clarence.
Buck Owens, Live In Japan.
Waylon Live
Hellbillies Live (they are from Norway)
Buch and the snakestretchers
recorded at the crossrods club in maryland
Another vote for Albert Collins... his "Live '92-'93" collection is a must-have for blues enthusiasts... great playing and great overall performances...!
