I had to... I just had to (62 RI)

Something told me this is gonna be a great one lol I have waited for an Ice blue metallic one to show up for a while. I sold my 2000 62 RI last year and I regretted it ever since.
    Here is the link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

My Cray strat has to go though and that sucks but I think this will be an upgrade.

She's a beauty! I like the dark RW contrast against the blue. I saw this but have bought 2 strats in the last 4 months and completely refurbished them with pups, pots, the works. I really am jonesin' for a LPB or your metallic. But with Christmas and taxes, etc I had to back off. Glad you scored it and we'll all want a report on its playability. Congrats.

Sweet guitar! I'd put the Cray pickups in it though. To my ears, they are the best sounding Strat pickups Fender makes...

I agree with you but the stock 57/62's are pretty damn good too. Besides I might throw some fralins of Kinmans in there after I have it for a while

I'm starting to think its lost/stolen by Fedex. Its been in NJ since the 10th. Its been out for delivery today since 6:30am today. It never arrived.
I called Fedex and they are showing the same thing I am.
Anyone ever go through this with Fedex?

I got the guitar. Its great!! One problem. The guy didn't send me the original case that is pictured in the auction. I emailed him about.
We'll see what he says. Does it warrant a neutral feeback b/c of it?
    Maybe a negative?
    What do you think?

Glad you like it! I'd give him the opportunity to make it right, but if he doesn't and there is no disclaimer in the auction or your correspondence relative to the case, I'd make a stink bigger than the last time Oprah and Rosie O'Donnell drank Guinness and ate barbeque together. If there's any way to go beyond and file a complaint with Ebay or your credit card company, I'd go there. Yeah, it's *only* the case, but...

Whatever you do, please peel the protective plastic and that sticker off of the spring cover. People leaving that stuff on is one of my pet peeves.
Good luck with the case situation. With RI's the proper case is sorta' part of the deal.
    In the seller's own words:
    ">>>> COMMENTS:
This guitar includes everything that is included from the factory: Guitar, case, goodies bag (cable, strap, papers), conversion kit for a 5 position switch for more variety of sound (already installed)."

    Beautiful Strat though.

Re: I had to... I just had to (62 RI)

thanks alot guys I appreciate it. I will give a chance to make it right. I mean its so obvious its a more than used case and the keys for the case that come with the guitar don't fit it. It just sucks.
The guitar looks and sounds great though.
thanks again and I'll let you know how it turns out.

Re: I had to... I just had to (62 RI)

Here is the email I got back from him. Verbatim:

    "Hi Steve,
hey first of all good thing that you got the guitar today in good condition, these Fedex guys took a lot of time to deliver it.
    My apologies:

1.- About the switch, I thought it was that guitar, but it was another one the one with the surgery, that means that the ice blue metallic hasn't been opened yet, it's good, so you'll be the first one.
2.- My apologies about the case, yes it was only for the picture, never done that, and never will do again. Please consider that the real value it's the guitar, which is a new one.

I hope I don't get negative feedback for this one.

    THANKS AGAIN

    Gregg G."

    What do I do?

Re: I had to... I just had to (62 RI)

He's the one who said it would include the case from the factory.
He apparently owns a brown case. Email him a link to his own ad and include that quote to point out what he described/what you paid for.
He should either send it to you FREE (in exch. for whatever case he sent), or a partial refund.
I just noticed the brown case is also mentioned in the Fender spec he pasted into the ad.
Could be the guy's just an airhead. I'm not sure how you handle this w/the pwrs that be at ebay if the guy tries to weasle you, but I wouldn't let this slide.
    That's a pricey case.

Don't leave any feedback until you get some satisaction.

Did I mention that's a beautiful Strat? :drl

Re: I had to... I just had to (62 RI)

Here is a second email after I stated I wanted the original case and quoted his ebay auction:

    Hi Steve,
sorry but I don't have a case to give you, the one in the picture it's not mine, and I'm not a Fender dealer, neither I have a retail store. I would have to buy it new, which is at least $100. The guitar new it's about $1260, you saved more than $400 . I understand what you tell me, but I think that for what you got it's a very good deal. I understand your point, and it was a mistake to describe the case like that, but as I tell you, I don't have a better case for your guitar. Let me know if you want to propose something.

    Gregg G.

WTF do I do. A case really isn't a big deal but its not what I thought I was buying ya know. This is my first bad experience so far on ebay.

Re: I had to... I just had to (62 RI)

Were the photos used of your actual guitar? If so, where is that case? I'd guess that he's lying about not having it; still, you can't prove it either way so...

I'd still try to get him pay for half of a new one since his description was fraudulent.
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...

I would hold his feet to the fire. You're getting a 'good deal' and saving money are not your problem. I would come as close to getting the entire price of a case from him as possible. Offer to send back the one he sent you once he gets you the right one. Maybe a phone call would help?

    Good luck bud.

Propose something. Ask him to at least refund your shipping costs. It's as clear as day what was described in the auction. It sounds like not getting negative feedback is important to him, too.

Sweet guitar. Sucks about the case. I'd demand the same case as shown in the auction... sounds like BS about him not having it. I don't understand why people try to pull shit like this.

thanks again guys It is definitely the same guitar and it really hasn't been touched. This just puts a dark cloud on a day when I was supposed to be happy.
Did he think I would just say I don't care about the case? What bullshit!!
I copied the description of the auction just in case he decides to pull it or erase it. And saved all the email exchanges. Next step is negative feedback and a report to ebay.. I'll take the negative hit I really don't care. I'll keep you guys posted
    thanks again

    Plug that puppy in!!
    That'll brighten your day.

Are you the TFFer who's a NY cop?
You could mention that casually in your correspondence.
"You can reach me on my cell while I'm on duty..." Something like that.

Sounds fishy. Borrowed the exact case he photographed, describes twice in his ad, but doesn't have it to sell?
Did you get the "case candy?"
You should see if he has any recently closed auctions w/pix of a brown case.
That Brown case is supposed to be part of the 60's RI experience.
It would be a bummer not to get it.

Make it $80 to cover tax on a new $140-150 case and call it a done deal.

I'd say yes what case did you get with it a blk tolex rectangle or form fitting? The correct case for it is brown tolex with a gold insides and leather ends. Pretty sure that case would cost at least $129-179.

Here is the one I had.

Is the case he sent a quality hard case- clean/stench-free, of comparable quality and protection?

If yes, I'd try for $100 and tell him you'll consider this all a misunderstanding and give positive feedback.
He's clearly in the wrong and that's like a $120-$140 case.

If he counter offers $90 take it. Leave mildy pos feedback only after the money's in your hand.

The case is not in the best of shape. It looks like its been around the block. It doesn't stink thank god. Musiciansfriend has them for $150 so I suggest half.
I really hope this guitar didn't fall of the back of the truck if you know what I mean.
