Nice Doc! How do you like those avatars?
Well, seeing that I'm so broke I couldn't buy a shotgun to shoot myself, I love'em!
Best cab for the money in the known world, IMHO.

Pay NO attention to that man behind the curtain....
now we're talkin! i want to know how that sans amp sounds.
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
Nice! Is that a SB112 or SB115 on the bottom?
It's a soon-to-be rare CH115, meaning it's compact, has a horn and no longer appears on the Avatar website. Hmmmm....I like the bastard size although it doesn't perfectly match the dimensions of the 210. Easy to store and tote. Sounds good to me.

cool!!
:yay :yay
"evil men make you kill me,
evil men make me kill you;
even though we’re only families apart..."
The Lord works in mysterious ways.
I sold that CB115 within 30 minutes of listing it on a local, online classified site and called Dave to order the SB115 to replace it.
The SB115 matches the B210 and stacks perfectly.
There's only one thing better'n GAS....
CHEAP GAS!

Doc, as a former "Underfunded" (that means broke) bass player, you are quickly becoming my idol. Nice rig! I'm thinking of the SX myself. I need a bass strictly for recording and it'll be going through a Line 6 amp direct to the board. There's a neat tube pre-amp model and cabinet models that sound good for recording. After reading thorugh posts, it looks like the SX might just fill the bill and keep me outa hot water with "she who shall be obeyed".
(that's her with the hammer) :spin
Thanks!
All the bass tracks recorded over in the "Jam Zone" were done on my SX HO with '69 Jbass pups, a Badass II bridge, and TI flat strings.
The bass rig is sounding better as I gradually get the tone dialed in.
I've realized the Tech21 RBI responds best to very gradual tone control adjustments.

Very Nice set up ya got there Doc!

Doc,
Absolutely a great setup. Quick update on my set up -
The guy that bought the Avatar 2x10 I had has it exclusively now. I am back on the 2x15 Peavey. It belongs to a friend of mine and for about the past 25 mit haver really had any bottom, and we never figured it out. I opened it over the past week and reversed the polarity/cleaned the contacts. It now hass massive ASS !
It might explain why I never was quite happy with the sound from my SX. For christmas, my wif boughtme a wiring kit, CTS pots, 1 meg cap, Switchcraft jack - about $28 shipped, I installed it, re-installed the Lace Sensors and a set of Med Fender Nylon tape wounds (9120s I think?).
Last night I auditioned with a band that a friend of mine just joined (about 3 weeks ago). Their jaws dropped at the absolute tone from this setup. They never said "if" I get in "the band"....they just told me what their expectations were, how often they expect for up to play out, develop song list, etc. I think that means I'm "in".
Yeah....the SX is absolutely a great axe, I think the electronic upgrades are a "must". The pups are good, especially for the price. Of course, the real purchase is the body and especially that neck.
I am going to look at a 2x10 Genz-Benz today, but if it isn't spectacular, I may buy my own Avatar. I really liked that one.
I like the preamp idea, but need to make some money first. the 2x10 is for convenience mostly.....I have a bad knee and the 2x15 up and down the stairs is no fun.
those Strings are really nice. No tone problems and under $20 at Mf. I might have to buy a backup set before they go back up.

Doc -
I was curious, how happy are you with your SX these days?
After full replacement of electronics, I am exceptioanlly happy. I Think the body/neck are a great platform to work from.
The wiring kit, enhanced cap and then re-installation of the Lace Sensors restored my confidence in it.
Although it will never be a Fender, Rick, or other high end piece, it sure does play great, sound exceptioanl and feel one of a kind.
I ordered a 112 cab from Dave at Avatar nd should have it in hand this week. I debated on the ohm rating and thought that going 8 ohm might be best, as I already have on 8 ohm cab. I know I could have gotten more from the head by going 4 and adding another 4. But based on what I already had, I went that route.
I believe I can move it back and forth for practice much easier than the 2-15.
This thing really sounds great now. It really does the old school P bass thing nicely and has no problem with that Geddy Lee Bite either. I'm telling you - those nylon tape wounds are really nice.
I wish I hadn't waited so lonng to get started.... this is O......K.....!
