BZIMM Jimmy Thackery! Since I was a Nighthawks fan round the DC area since the late 70's (+/- 1975) it is good to see his name up. Seriously great blues from Jimmy and the boys in the day.

Just got back from my sojourn in Disneyland Paris, and yes I had a great time.........
Only problem is, that while I have no music on at the moment, all I can hear is.......
ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
AAAARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH
still nice to see the thread going strong!
T. Monkey, Po' Li'l Tad.... *SMOOCH*
Try eary Stones "No Expectations"....
"Katy Lied" on deck good ol' Steely Dan.
Shine your light.
Skip, definitely check out the CD then. He and Tab just tear it up, and it is an interesting combination of styles. It was recorded in Maine in '03, called Whiskey Store
I'm listeneing to Nazareth's Greatest Hits.
Altogether now....."My White Bicycle"
Chicken Coupe Deville - "drinkin songs & smokin guitars" {As Per Fezz Parker's suggestion in an earlier post - I like it allot}

I've just seen a face...Holly Cole Trio....yeah the beatle song....Holly is one smoky girl
Fast doesn't always mean good

Greg V's Tailgate Troubadour

This is the first independent cd that I have bought and I love it. There are some mp3's on his site.
Just finished listening to Albert Collins, 'What you gonna do (when the welfare turns iyt's back on you)'. A class piece of work.
At this point I should thank the wonderous Annie D for my first, official, just for me SMOOCH. I loved it!

Derek and the Dominos:- 'Keep on Growing'
The best thing about my holiday being over is being able to get back to my music collection, there is some mighty fine craft going on in some of the disney songs, and I had an astoundingly good time (not quite as good as my six year old!) but this song is making me realise the difference between a crafted piece of music and one that comes straight from the heart.
(The woman who sang 'Circle of Life' in the Lion King stage show out there had a voice! So my time was not entirely bereft of musical pleasure, she could sing the Yellow Pages and raise the hair on the back of your neck)
TM, the feller that wrote keep on growing and bell bottom blues and more off the "Layla" album has been playing around here recently.
Bobby Whitlock is his name.
A friend of mine works at the local "originals only" club. He's brought some interesting music by to share, from Gillian Welch to Bobby and all points in between.
It was really special for me to hear Bobby's solo stuff 30 years after it had such an impact on me from the Layla album.
Ain't life grand????

I'm listening to the backing track I made for Annie D last night.
Somebody needs to write some lyrics......and three or four of you ladies need to dress up in hoop skirts to sing some background, cause Annie's special.
There's room for a harmonica, washboard, spoons and a jug.
Get off it....let's jam.....

Bobby Whitlock, Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?
That's pretty cool Moon. Now that's somthing to get out of the house for.
Get down there and jam with them man.

Bob Dylan - "Love and Theft"...
Freddie King's Goin Down. Now thats a song to make you come over all excited!
Thats a cool thing Piester, Bobby Whitlock has a voice and a talent that should have bestrode continents, much like the Clapton. I have a great and fairly recent video clip from Japanese TV of Bobby and Eric jamming, and there is a bit of special extra majic when those guys start bouncing off one another.
Big Band music.....its on a PBS station.Sounds kinda nice this Sunday morning.
Women want me
Fish fear me
Yeah, I reallly love Whitlock's contribution to the Layla album too. His vocals added so much soul, especially on Bell Bottom Blues.
I've got on the Outlaws - Hurry Sundown.
Ry Cooder - Feelin' Sad Blues
Supertramp; Breakfast in America.
Iron & Wine's "Our Endless Numbered Days".
It is a FANTASTIC album. Stick it on your iPod and you won't be disappointed!
The Shaggs...oops no I'm not. my wife just came into the room. Some people just don't get the Shaggs.

If aliens listened to our current top 40, they'd think that the entire planet was populated by sexually ambivalent robots with ethnic insecurity.
Genius and idiocy all at the same time. What's not to like?Originally Posted by Fripperton

Beats me. I can't get halfway through "My Pal Foot Foot" before my wife starts hurling random inanimate objets d'arte in my direction. The first time I played it for my son he literally ROTFL.Originally Posted by Kap'n

Otis Grand and the Dance Kings Woke Up this Morning. Cool, but not as cool as BB's version. Now Howling Wolf and Little Red Rooster, I'm having a bluesey day.

Frank Sinatra "Live At The Sands". "How'd all you people get in my room?":hee
Rush's "Finding My Way", from their first album. A good rocker.
Rascal Flatts? Yay, someone else besides me likes 'em. All y'all elitists can snicker and look down your noses, but those boys are sure fun to sing along with on a sunny sunday drive...plus which, unlike typical pop music boy bands, these guys can actually play their instruments and they can back up live what they do on record, vocally.Originally Posted by CocoTone

I wanted that album until I found out it didn't have my personal favorite song by Nazareth, which is, believe it or not, Holiday. "Mama mama please, no more facelifts...Mama mama please, no more husbands." Don't know why, that one always stood out, to me.Originally Posted by Cousin Dupree

Jimmy Rodgers, 1929-30. Man what a bunch a gangster songs. Hip-hop has got nuttin' on this bunch of miscreant, antisocial tunes. :lol
listening to Davet's clip on Annie's Jam :yay

Today's morning drive was to B.B King's Live in Cook County Jail.
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...
As a side note, what kind of 'street cred' do you need to have a "Live at _____ Prison" album? BB could pull it off. Johnny Cash could.Originally Posted by hudpucker
