A pair of those Grolsch beer bottle red rubber gaskets. The best I've ever used.
Bread Bag Ties.. Like this one on my son Brandon's Les Paul...

Schaller. At $15, they're pretty cheap when you consider the guitar's value.

Yeah, I like the Schallers too.
I dig the Schallers too but it always pisses me off when you have to dowel and redrill the holes...that's every year or so for me.
I don't gig so the plastic Dunlop variety do the trick for me, beats drilling into my babies.
My new Tele came with Schaller strap locks from the factory.

Toothpicks and elmers glue is a lot easier than dowelling and redrilling.Originally Posted by itbepopples

Scallers are pretty sweet.. but my Sg can't take them cause the neck spot is a bit too shallow. What I do is I take a show lace and I tie a knot or 2 around the strap hole.. Which makes it a bit tighter, and force it on the peg. It's better but i wouldn't jump around
But sitting here thinking. I was wondering if it's possible to drill a hole through the strap peg and put a Hitch pin through it ??
I have Dunlop Straploks on most my guitars, including my Strat, but I recently bought a nice Planet Waves strap with built-in strap locks, and, overall, have come to like it best of all.
Because the Dunlop Straploks on the Strat are the newer "two-way" system , rather than the original (which just means the "socket" replacing the strap button on the guitar is actually shaped like a strap button so it can accept an ordinary strap... duh), the Planet Waves strap fits right on without any further fuss. So I can still use a Straploked strap on the Strat if I want to. But I think the Planet Waves set-up is neater, and cheaper, and possibly even more secure than the schaller/dunlop systems. Comfortable, good-looking strap, too.

I use Schaller staplocks on the endpin, but they stick out too far on the horn. It looks obnoxious. I use PRS strap buttons on those. The PRS buttons are larger than Fender or Gibsons and since the buttons face down a bit, have not had any problems with the strap staying on.
I did buy some Grolsh to try putting the gaskets on as well. I need to get working on that project.
Check out the ones at the link below. I've been using them on my LP for over a year now, very reliable, easy to use, and best of all, cheap!

Woah MKG. Your link redirects instantly to microsoft.com.
No strap locks there. (Shudders).
It looks like you have two "http://" in there. Trying yanking one out.
Sorry...I had one too many "http" thingies in there. Should work now.
I do get a small commission from Microsoft when I make that mistake, right?

Used 'em for 25 years. No drilling, and you get a couple of beers to drink.:heeOriginally Posted by 71818

I've used Schallers on almost all of my Fender and Gibson guitars since my Strat Plus came with them in the late '80s and have never had this problem.Originally Posted by itbepopples
The only guitars that I don't use them on are traditional type Telecasters because I can hear them rattle through the amp.
They are cheap compared to a broken Les Paul headstock.
