Toys 4 Tots Jam

It's that time of the year. The Toys 4 Tots Jam will be held at The Valencia Club at 2:00 PM Sunday Nov. 27. The jam will continue until everyone has played. The material will include Country, Country Rock, Classic Rock and Blues. It will be hosted by Jimmy Baughman and myself. Should have lots of door prizes, The Yager Girls (yummy) and some really good jammers not to mention the US Marines. The food is excellent and we should have a large turnout. For those who want to donate, bring a new, unwrapped toy.

Here's hoping that TFFr's will turn out in large numbers this year.

It's coming up Sunday. Yesterdays jam went pretty well. I expect next weekends to go good too. there were dancers and an appreciative crowd. there were enough musicians that you could party and visit quite a bit too. and still get plenty of play time.

take I-5 to reno 80 take 80 til you get to hwy193 (it is right after the newcastle exit, before you get to auburn.)

tale the 193 exit and turn left after you make the circle around under the fwy.

follow that to the stop. there you will see a tunnel in front of you. go straight through that tunnel. stay on this road.

after a few miles, on your right, you will see a very large sign that says valencia club. it is at the corner of taylor road and rocksprings.

I had a great time. there were all skill levels represented, and everyone who wanted to play did. On the down side, I was told Mojo was there but not 'til after he was gone. Sorry I missed you bro.

I pulled off some really awesome leads, but true to form, I pulled off some really not so good leads. it happens.

there were some great sounds coming from the stage, and also a couple train wrecks. It happens.

Lots of toys for the tots and on the first hat pass for the program, we raised over $800. I'm not sure what we got on the second pass, but I feel we did good.

I ended up being sick the whole day anyway. A Diabetes thing, and I also remembered my car is still in the body shop, I would not have had a car to get there in anyway.

Mark was right, it was a great jam and it ended up with a little over $1200.00 cash and 125 toys for the kids. All for a great cause. Sorry Mojo, I missed you to, come on up as we will be having a regular jam on Sundays.

I'm in Rio Linda, I'm tied up until 3:00. I'm thinking that I'll be there about 4:00 and hopefully stay until 6:00. If my health hold out.

I'm sorry I missed you guys as well. I'll be back up, so we can hook up. I had a great time and met some real nice folks, while I listened. Dennifish provided a real solid foundation from which to work off of. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of music played: Blues, Country, Rock and even a couple of tunes written by a Fire Ridge member. It was all good. I had never been to a Jam prior to Sundays and didn't know quite what to expect. What I found out was quite remarkable, people who were as into entertaining as being entertained, showin' a little love along the way. Everyone received a chance to strut their stuff if they so desired.

This little lady knocked out both Country and Blues licks with equal aplomb. I have seen her perform some where else, I just can't place it. (What do they say? The memory is the second thing to go and I forgot what the first thing was. )


Kathy sang a rendition of "Me and Bobby McGee" that had me thinkin' Janis just might be in the house, a fine performance.


I had a chance to meet and chat with Bob. He played and sang a couple of Country Western tunes that I enjoyed very much, as did everyone else.


This last Phtot was a great way to end the day. This sweet 32' was parked outside when I was leaving. Jus' a little eye candy for those of you with a sweet tooth.

There was an awful lot to see and hear at the Valencia. There's no way I can cover it all. Suffice to say, a lot of talent entered those doors on Sunday and for a time, they spread their wings and flew....mojo
