Ok here is a few. What do you like better the black or white guard?

Can't decide, Steve - but isn't it nice that you can swap pickguards on a Tele / Esquire so easily? :)
Tele = black.
Esquire = white.
Don't know why, but that's me.

Here is mine... And its light weight!
Yeah, I'm just waiting for the fella to deliver it next week but I couldn't resist. First thing I'm gonna do is try to find an accurate date. Is it under the lead pickup where I'll find the body date??Originally Posted by telecast
There probably won't be a body date from that era. Use the neck date and pot codes. You're going to have to do some research to determine of the body is original.
If you don't have one, go to the local music store/book store and pick up a book called "The Telecaster" by Duchossoir. It has a boatload of info in it that is invaluable in determing dates. About $14 and well worth it.

Good advice. I'll try to find the notch pic.Originally Posted by telecast

telecast - after being wowed by your thread (all those great pics), I took your advice and purchased a black pickguard to replace the white one on my blonde MIJ Tele (it took forever to get here, though) - unfortunately, although I wanted it to, it just didn't look right - I just don't think the blonde and black go together as well as the black and more yellowish ones like yours - that's my sad story, but thanks again for getting me to try a different direction.
I have a 51Nocaster that I keep going back and forth between white and black.
I kinda like the white because there are SO MANY blackguards
Mark N, if you look up "Telecaster" in the dictionary, that's the picture they should show!

Bluestar: Hey, no problem, you can't help it if your taste is in your butt....
Johnny, that's an Esquire. I like a white guard on an Esquire better than the black. Don't ask me why.

My turn, My turn!!!
Well, technically, it's still a Nocaster with a pickup removed.Originally Posted by telecast

Where'd ya get the amps? I like them!
I got the 59 from the same guy that sold be the Custom back
about 6 or more years ago , he sold it to me on my birthday for $1200..no bad ~~ a very close friend wouldnt you say
the 60 came from another friends family when he passed away
The late Bassman Amps of the 50's are truly the holy grail of Amps
they have the tone that everybody wants & with a Tele behind them you can't beat the tone...nothing come's close
hey hows the weather in scotland ?

Awesome man, they're nice. I'm really, really jealous! You hardly ever see anything nice over here. In fact, you hardly ever see anything that isn't a bloody Mesa dual-rectifier or a Marshall JCM900! Oh, there's a lot of vintage Behringer...
But the weather! It's fantastic just now. For once the 'sunny' in my location isn't a joke! My tan is great! Have you visited?
Tommy.
I wish I could , but my tele's won't let me
