Not having played out for a while (last band I was in was about 20 years ago), I'm happy to go with the flow.
I'll try learning some songs that come up here so that I don't look like a complete twonk. (Maybe half a twonk...a demi-twonk if you will)
'Alton Towers - Where the magic never ends', or so the commercial says. Imagine my disappointment when it closed at 7.30
I'm waiting for the list to start so I can learn some of 'em too. Some Lizzy would be alright by me.

Paul _ I'd be honoured. Any boss choons in mind?
I can play along with most stuff (don't know any lizzy though) if I have the chords. I'll bring my song books with various stuff both words and music.

So this is where you've all been hiding?
I know a fair bit of Lizzy (Rosalie, Don't Believe a Word, Dancing in the Moonlight) and I used to play a few others back in the day (Waiting for an Alibi, Jailbreak, Boys are Back in Town, Johnny)
and I know The One I Love by REM
Apart from those I wouldn't mind doing some Neil Young (Like a Hurricane, Rockin' in the Free World, Powderfinger) and I'm ok with a fair bit of "Classic Rock" Free, Cream, Floyd, Skynyrd (Freebird anyone?), but most of all I'm looking forward to having a few beers with you guys.

So...I think we'll be doing "The Drunken Train Wreck" then ;)
Edit. In view of a new guitar pending I'de be up for 'Dont believe a word' Paul wants to sing it. Though Ayns may have to do the solo if I cant get the Mandolin runs oot me heed!

I could do SMoke on teh Wotter....
But I reserve the right to make an arse of t' solo...
That and I cannae sing....
Mibbe a clapton number?
I'm ok with White Room, Badge, Sunshine.., Crossroads and a few off the Layla album, but I'm quite happy to do "Drunken Train Wreck" instead.
BTW quite a few Lizzy songs are detuned a semitone, so probably best we decide which key we're going to play 'em in beforehand. I play Don't Believe a Word in A.
White Room or SUnshine... but me white room is really quite rusty...
...and have I mentioned I can't sing....
Can play the drums though (hint hint)
I can't sing either. But I don't let it bother me ;-)

I'm getting excited...and reading Ayns list of songs he'd like to do makes me realise why i think he's a top bloke...that dude has taste.
Thanks Paul, I'll give you the Tenner later
Pavarotti.... there.. beat you to it...
nessun dorma ken!
Ayns, did ya see Skynyrd at the city hall?
d'ya fancy doing Gimme three steps? and we'll probably do Sweet home Alabamah.
I did indeed see Skynyrd in '77. Couple of months before the plane crash IIRC. Sweet Home's my favourite, and I was serious about Free Bird
Edit :- Looks like it was Feb 1977
It must have been the same night i was there, OK, Freebird is a go!!!
Ooo Ooo (Mr Peverly) - I know the chords! I can stand at the back and do that!
