    Homemade Pedal Board

In New York we found a Guitar Center there and my dad bought me a pack of 4 Dan Electro pedals for $50. I wanted a pedal board, I asked if we could just make one but my dad said it wasnt that easy, but I showed him! I made my own pedal board!!!!

    Nice board!

Mine's kind of similar to Dirtdog's, but a little more basic.

I just cut up a piece of cheap doormat, and glued/stapled it to a laptop-sized piece of plywood. Infinitely configurable, and fit's nicely into a $3 Goodwill Store laptop bag, along with strings, cables, tools, batteries.

I got tired of using a leash to power my pedals, so everything's on batteries. The only thing that eats batteries is the analog delay. The others last for months.

Well i found a board, found a very cheap gig bag, put the board in the neck of the gig bag, cut the rest of the gig bag off, sowed it up with yarn, put velcro for each my pedals on the board, stapeled leather strips for straps, then to make the board more steady i stapled the loose parts!

Brandon - I gotta ask - what's the story behind the name WilsonDooDa?

And by the way, you've got a great dad there - buying you all kinds of cool stuff to play through! Plus, he takes fantastic phtots...

    Re: Homemade Pedal Board

Phtot - I see that Brandon is 13 - my son Jacob is 14 and has similar interests. I recently helped him get an Epiphone Joe Pass which he loves, and he's got that funky little Danelectro pedalboard that came pre-wired with 5 pedals, and my old Vox Pathfinder. Anyway, the other day, I caught him playing the classic blues turnaround in E

    e 0 0 0
    B 3 2 1
    G 4 3 2 0/1 (hammered on)

And, lo and behold, it flowed so nicely, sounded like he had surpassed the awkwardness and started to really "play" the guitar. I was so stoked...the kid really "gets" it! I'm sure you've had moments like that with Brandon...

Nice job on the board, kid! As creative as you are, you'd not only make a good musician, but a good engineer too! Welcome to TFF!

I was thinking about going the carpeted route too, but had concerns over static electricity causing problems. Guessing that's not a problem for you or is it because you're using batteries instead of AC power?

I don't think static would be a problem, but I don't know for sure.

Some kids these days can't think their way out OF a bag, let alone thinking outside the bag.

Kudos on your child rearing skillz.

I'm kind of particular to "Miracle Films" (If it's a good film, it's A Miracle!" distributor of Bubba Ho Tep, among others.

Hmm, it's worth a shot I guess. I can just cut slits into the carpet for power cables to come through so I can hide my ugly 9/16" holes drilled in the plywood.

I wondered that too, but then thought that maybe the time difference on the Left Coast was confounding me - then I thought maybe there were parent-teacher conferences - my son's were Wednesday...

Is Brandon in a wee bit o' trouble?

    Re: Homemade Pedal Board

Wow. Wooooowwwwiiieeeee! That is the cleanest-looking homemade pedalboard I've ever seen. It even looks like he put together the cables and ends after he fed the cables thru the board.

It might be a nightmare to troubleshoot, but with that guy's workmanship, it might take a tumble off the top of a tall building to break something on there...

Actually, that is a really nice board. I was going to make some comment that I'd rather buy one, but after seeing that recessed section for the Wah pedal, I'm hooked...

I may have to re-consider attempting to build one myself...
