finally got around to painting it the other night. first coat was a light mist of silver flake, three coats of gold, three coats of black. don't know how good it comes through in the picture over the interweb, but it looks kinda like my anodized guard on my jazzmaster. still have to screw it into the bass, it's going on the orange tele bass. tonight i need to polish frets on two guitars that need to leave here on sunday, so i probably won't get to it. enjoy ya'll!

Curious....cuz I am not that savvy,........does the multiple layers of paint and color really make that much of a differrence>?

it just adds some depth to it. i used the silver flake to make it sparkle a little. slathered on the gold to make sure that was nice and thick, then shot a lot of black to double make sure the gold was rich and popped. it's sort of like a tortoiseshell guard, there's a layer of black behind the tort, or else the tort will look sort of washed out.
