Compressors - Behringer clone of Dyna-Comp?

Just watched a Youtube video of a guy demonstrating the Behringer DC9 compressor. While it seems to compress fine, it sounds as if it brightens up the tone and loses a little bottom end as soon as it's switched in. I've heard others mention this and say it makes things nice and 'jangly', although I'd prefer if it left the tonal adjustment to me! Since this is supposedly a 'clone' of the MXR Dyna-Comp - does the Dyna-Comp do this? Thanks from someone just about to dip his toe into onstage compressors......

I haven't heard the Behringer, but to my ears, the Dyna-Comp does just the opposite.

You might get more jangle, but not more brightness - the Dyna-Comp has no tone knob. It's a pretty simple affair, just 2 knobs, one for volume and one for the amount of 'squishiness'

FWIW, I owned a cheap Marshall compressor ("Ed the Compressor") and a fairly pricey one (DigiTech's DigiComp) and hated them both. Dyna-Comp or Boss Compressor is the way to go.

My old Dyna-Comp doesn't seem to alter the tone at all, it just compresses the signal. If you don't know what you're listening for, it's difficult to even know it's on.

While the Dyna-Comp is a good meat and potatoes compressor, my friends' original Ross and his Keeley C4 are better (and much pricier).

I've had a couple different compressors. I prefer the Boss CS3 to the Dynacomp. That's just me.

The Dynacomp, for my taste, has a very, very small window of usable sounds. I found the Boss to be much more adjustable and flexible. I like how subtle it can be. The Dynacomp is much more of an Effect. The Boss seems like just a part of the whole - part of my stock sound. I don't turn it off.

I'm actually a fan of Beringer founders estate red wine.
Really good for an american wine in that priceclass!

AVOID that Beringer Dyna clone compressor ! I had one a year ago, it took me longer to unpack the box and unit then repack it than the time it took to try it through my small rig. It was bright, thin, noisey and brittle. For $25 I didn't expect much, but it was awful...hth, serious, it was junk in a hard plastic box.

This is exactly why I use the Dyna-Comp. Give me too many options and I will tweak more than I play.
