so as not to hijack the other thread i started my own. i've been drooling over the new squier classic vibe 60's p bass, and really miss having a standard p. so i got to thinking... pulled out the old craptacular squier p body i had laying in the closet for the past 7 years. it was my first bass and served me well until i snapped the neck off it, long story, we won't get into that. i also had a can of krylon that was close to the classic vibe color. now all i needed was a neck, so i decided to pull the neck off the orange tele bass and use that. my buddy jim wound me up a slightly hot p bass pickup to use.
here how the body looks after 2 coats of primer
and here it is after 2 coats of color
i ain't gonna lie, this is a cheap crappy paint job. i'm no painter and don't have the patience for it. as you can see in the pics, there is a horrendous route in the bridge position... long before i knew routing templates existed... so i'll just make a cover for it.
i'll hopefully have the thing together for wednesday youth group. i've been playing the hell out of my jazz bass and tele basses, but there was part of me that was missing a regular old p. man they're hard to beat, so simple, so awesome! i'll post more pics when i get this thing together.
