The '79 Spankmaster finally came home...

Well - here it is - that mysterious amp that I own... I'd put it into a workshop in London when I lived there 7 yrs ago... and hadn't seen it since...

Well... she came home last night... I've been down here at the workshop testin' Arthur's work and I'll be damned if he hasn't done a good job!!! It's marvelous... and it's precisely what Chris said it was - a '79 SF that's been BF'ed... doesn't really matter whether Paul Rivera actually BF'ed it any more (that was the lore that went along with it)... it's got a new PT (a nice beefy b*stard), new choke, the original Utah is long gone (and who'd want it anyway...), has a Vintage 30 in it but I'm gonna change that out for something a bit smoother and cleaner... put an early 80's Winged C rectifier bottle in it (had an EH) and it got sweeter for sure... it was great at about 2 and quarter with treble and bass at around 4 and a bit - treble winning that race by a nose... just straight good Fender tone with a bit of chirp and tons of sustain - I'm so used to not having reverb that I tried it to make sure it worked... and then turned it back off again... the 'vibrato' did what it should too... that always cracks me up - how could a guy who got so much right mix those two, eh?.... Whadya think... should we let 'im off?...

Weber 12A150W, 50 watt, light or no dope. Wait for it to break in and you have one hell of a match.

My mother-in-law makes a better everything... my makes a better everything by default of that... it's a Polish thing...

But my stomach's not the subject of this thread... And I think Roger's jones for a 15" driver with the AA763 has sound foundation... best Music Man amp I ever heard was a 65W combo with a 15" EV that was designed to go with it... and I did look at it tonight and say - a 15" designed for that would be awesome - but it had a V30 in it - so it wasn't a fair crack of the whip - IMO - so I'm gonna pursue the 12" route as we have a load of Tayden 12" en route...

As to the originality of the name - I wasn't aware that Roger coined that moniker - and there's no smoke without fire - he may be onto something with the AA763 + 15" combination...

It is a Polish thing (you've seen my last name, right? ), but my Mexican wife is pretty damn impressive with meals.

Back to the amp, why was it in the shop for 7 years?!! 7?!
