    trippin down memory lane

    i was doing the homeowner thing the other day, so i put on some favorite tunes, which i havent listened to in a real long time, and suddenly i am realinzing just how great the following albums and bands, really are/were:

    East - West, Paul Butterfield Blues Band

    Antennae/First Album, ZZ Topp

    Seven Turns, Allman Bros...fantastic

    anyway, i was wondering, which "classic rock" albums do any of you all go back to for another listen, you know, the one that you say, i havent heard this in awhile

    The album that I've been spinning a LOT lately is:

    Lynyrd Skynyrd/The Complete Muscle Shoals Recordings

    It's great! There are a whole bunch of original recordings as well as some songs that were never released. It's one of their best albums in my opinion. Everyone should check it out! :)

    Burst-King...i agree with you about Lynyrd Skynyrd...i have Swamp Music, and it always sounds good to me...going to see them the end of this month in atlantic city, nj...

    It may not be "classic rock", but I recently dug out Dark Side of the Moon and listened to it in its entirety........wow. There is some awesome playing and studio work on that album, it amazes me everytime. Takes me back to college and stuffing sheets under the door so the RA couldn't smell the..........

    That definately fits the classic catagory. In fact it is as classic as it gets. :)

    Hey Tim C,
    Glad to see there is another Floyd fan on this board. So much Hendrix and SRV talk that I think a lot of people forget about my favorite Strat hero......David Gilmour. Have you checked out the Live at Pompeii concert VHS/VCD (I wish they would release some of this stuff on DVD!!!). Anyway, it can get a little psychadelic for some, but I love it. It has some great clips of Gilmour in the studio laying down tracks for the Dark Side album. If you havent already, I'd definitely check it out!

    Thanks for the info. When I get a chance I will check the video out.

    I remember driving around in my new grass green 73 VW Super Beetle listening to Pink Floyd. Great memories of an easier time in my life.

    Hey Tim C,
    I know what you mean! If only college lasted a lifetime :) I think you'll like it though, it's basically a live show filmed in the ruins of Pompeii with no audience and all pre DSOTM stuff. You can get it on ebay on VCD for around $12 and it will play on most computers and stand alone DVD players. If you get it, shoot me a line and let me know what you think!
