Finally completed my first relic project this day.Thiis is my tribute to a L series Custom color '63 Stratocaster. The great Butnut,a Fender Forum member ( haven't seen him in awhile) who lives in Hawaii ( lucky bastid) is to thank for the amazing relic poly job.
Takes skill to relic a poly finish. Its a Jimmy Vaughan Strat body.
The neck is a USACG neck. I reliced all the Hardware myself ( whoop -ti-do). The Bridge is an American Standard Fender with Callaham block.
This is just an amateur job. Guitar plays and sounds great.
Bridge and neck pickups are vintage style Duncans, with the middle being reverse wound/ reverse polarity . The neck pickup is an American Standard Fender pickup.
Cavity is copper tape shielded, and all wiring is vintage cloth with a Sprague .22 orange drop tone cap and all pots are CTS.
I couldn't ever figure out how to get the bottom tone control working, so there is no tone control there.
I'm either going to put creamier pickup covers or less creamy control knobs to match each other. Not sure which, probably the latter.
I couldn't get any good pictures really, it was overcast here today. I ordered the Mint green guard from Guitar Fetish, and its a very subtle green , which is good cause this guitar is more of a 'closet classic' style relic.
Yeah, you might have seen these parts before, even recently, but this is definitely going to stay as-is forever.
I'll try and post a good artificial light picture of the entire guitar to catch the Creamy body color and the minty green guard colors, and the great looking aged hardware color tones.
