It looks like Harley has decided to announce the end of the Buell and MV Agusta cycles. They say they are looking for a buyer for MV but it sounds like Buell is dead in the water.
Another sign of the times we live in.

That really sucks
Can't say as I blame them.
They probably ought to stick with what they do best which is primarily heavy cruiser bikes. Let the import companies handle the crotch rockets and the like as they seem to do this best.
I'd also ax the V-Rod line if I were in charge.
That said, I test rode a Buell XB12 several years ago and was pretty impressed the performance of the bike....just not my bag.
Its too bad that Buell is done, it was really a well engineered cycle but its too hard to convince the population that an American bike can compete with the metric bikes.
Eric Buell really had some great ideas for competitive cycles. I'm sure the metrics will utilize his ideas when possible.
Iwas just at the local HD dealer yesterday and the only bikes that really caught my eye were the Buells. They looked as out of place there as I did!
A friend of mine has owned a Thunderbolt for the pat 12 years. It's slow by sportbike standards, but a joy to ride.
I doub't we've seen the last of Eric Buell
I guy I worked with had one. Brand new.. it was constantly in the shop...

The Buell 1125R and 1125CR are really some innovative machines that never seemed to catch on. Watching the Harley sales training videos on these gave me a good understanding of the racing principles that drove the design of the bikes and the Rotax engine utilized in them.
