I recently replaced the pickups in my '69 Tele but the new ones just howl even at lowish volume.
Can anyone recommend some pickups that won't feed back on me? I like the way the guitar sounds and don't want to change that if possible.

Try wax potting them,, A google search should bring up a tutorial ..
What was wrong with the stock pickups? Most would really enjoy them.
BTW, a good tele pickup should a be tad "microphonic" for true tele tone.
There ways to tame them with just a little attention. do search for tightening the base plate on the bridge pickup, tightening or taping the bridge, etc.
Your stock pickups are worth some real money too. Wax potting will reduce the value.
Of course.
I put a smear of Tacky Wax between the bottom of the pickup and the metal baesplate and flow it with a soldering iron.
Tacky Wax (I think that's the name of it) is a product sold at craft stores. It's kind of used like a glue stick ('cept it's in a little tub) to adhere things that you want to be able to pull apart later.
You can make 'em work. Tighten it all up, use the tricks online (and here) to stop them from being problematic. Right on the edge is where the coolest tele tone comes from.
