Oh HELL no! Just when I was convinced that the Squier CV '50s Tele was all that I needed...

    What's the MSRP on these?

    *Edit - I see Sweetwater wants $379.99

Ya just $30 more than the CV 50's good deal as I see it.

Put a humbucker in the neck & a USA Custom flamed maple/brazilian rw neck on there & it's good to go for me! That's a cheap way to get the killer Tele Custom I've wanted for years.

Hmm, these have got alnico 5 pickups rather than the alnico 3s in the 50's CV Tele. be interesting to see how they compare.

When You point your finger 'cause your plan fell through, you've got 3 more fingers pointing back at you.

It's amazing what Fender can put out, and at such a price, when they want to.

I had a chance today to compare a Classic Vibe Tele to a Road Worn, both new. I expected to prefer the Road Worn, but I preferred almost everything about the Classic Vibe, except the feel of the neck. The Classic Vibe definitely sounded better, no question.
If I didn't already have a good Tele......

    Double bound!

I've been wanting to get a CV Tele, preferably sooner than later. This complicates matters because -- which one? 50s or Custom?!

    You said it! Double bound!

Eli, the Alnico 3s in the 50s Tele are amazing. If I had to choose, I'd go with a 50s only because I prefer maple necks.

    But man...double bound...

Same nut width as the MIM 50's Classic Esquire which was one of the best most comfortable necks Ive owned.

MY 50's CV Tele is also the same nut width and its easy to play plenty of room.

Good points. If I was going to have just one Tele, I'd want one that felt and sounded as Tele-like as possible...and between the two CVs, I'm guessing that would be the 50s model.

    But then again...double bound!

If the CV 60s Alnico V pups are any indication, the Custom Tele pups will be great too.

I have to admit that I'm sold on the Alnico IIIs in both the Tele and Strat. However the the Alnico Vs in the CV 60s Strat I played are great too.

I'm betting the Tele Custom won't disappoint either.

I'lll let y'all know in a few days.

I'm sure the new Custom would sound like a Tele for sure also. As Dan said, chances are that it won't disappoint, but I believe with these two models, it's coming down to a preference of maple v. rosewood necks, Alnico 3 v. Alnico 5, etc.

    But, geez, double bound!

Re: New 2010 Classic Vibe Teles

    Interesting assessment NT.

    Let's break it down~

Brighter tone Maple w/warmer tone Alnico IIIs

    VS

Warmer tone Rosewood w/brighter tone Alnico Vs

and of course Pine VS Alder

My take on the Pine body is it may impart a little warmth over Alder.

My expectation is the Custom will be a bit mo' brighter than CV50s but still close nonetheless.

I could handle it with the U shaped profile but the C profile just didn't work with the narrow nut.. Odd but true

Not so odd. My hand agrees.
Nice guitars, but there's just not enough handful to the neck.
