Folks with J basses, please help!

Anyone with a Fender J bass, can you do me favor? What I need is the measurement from the front of the nut (the fret board side) to the front of the neck Pickup. Inches please, not metric!

I'm gonna add a J neck pup to my Jaguar bass and want to get the spacing right. Please also list the model. American, MIM, Squier, even SX or other decent clones. American, or vintage models are preferred, but all responses will be cataloged, and an "average" will be determined.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

My Jazz Bass is built on a MIM Standard body......

From the fretboard side of the nut to the front edge of the neck pickup I measure 27-5/8".

27-1/2" exactly on my 1999 MIM Jazz Std. This is the older version with the same ceramic pickup in each position.

Thanx a lot guys! That's what I seem to be coming up with. There seems to be an 1/8" difference between some models. Check the bass section as I'll be posting a thread about my Jag bass.

    Thanx again guys!

I'll route tomorrow as I'm too tired today. Pickups should be here at the end of the week.

And what is the neck from? Is that from an American Deluxe or something else? Bound with blocks is cool...

AFAIK, Fender subcontracts with Allparts to build the vanilla tuxedo's for the Geddy Lee basses.

I love block'n'bound necks on Fenders! Especially if they have matching headstocks!

I had a blocked and bound SX - which was Surprisingly Awesome! I have the Jag - not bound - but nice. There is a distinct "something" though to Blocked and bound like that one!

I'm using a '69 Fender neck on my 12 string exactly for that reason! I just think they're UBERKOOL!!!

    I modeled the instrument after a 1966 CBS-era edition.

This one was the second of two, the first being 3TSB with a tortoise shell pickguard that I built as a birthday gift for my brother. I used the B&B Allparts neck on that bass as well.

Don't know if it's too late, but my Parts-o-p/j is 27 1/2" exact.

Nope, not too late. Have yet to make the "incision"... That's where I'm making my cut, seems to be the average that I've come up with.
