I've got good news, & I've got bad news

    The good news is this:
If you recall, the Les Paul Forum, The Fender Forum, & Cafe Wah all were offline for awhile earlier this year. Several Les Paul Forum members chipped in to pay the rent & keep the forums afloat. This action also came w/some changes. For instance, many new areas of the LPF have been created, as well as the elimination of paid subscription services. In short, the Backstage is now open over there to all & new sub-forums created for the inclusion of non-Gibson guitars for discussion. As well. the registration process has been streamlined to allow for easier signup.
The bad news is the elimination of this forum, TFF. It has been necessary to "trim some fat" in order to lower the cost of running things. Cafe Wah is probably on the way out, too.
In short, the new owners/administrators would like to welcome any here at The Fender Forum to come over & join the LPF. There's a place for you there.

That's too bad. It's taking a lot of time and effort from the people involved to keep the LPF up and running. They've done a great job and it's really appreciated!

It's been nice having this place back up and running for a while. I'm very grateful for that too.

    Thanks to all involved!

Re: I've got good news, & I've got bad news

    Sad news!

After chalking up thousands of posts across the hall (mostly in the good ol' JamZone) and more than a few educamating folks about CS-356s and the like, not to mention a goodly number here back in the day when I first got my Nashville Tele and the JamZone was hopping here too... I just wanted to say that there are surely very, very many Good Eggs over there with a vast and generous knowledge about a good many things that folks care about here. And most of those guys don't bite. As knowledgable as they are, they could often benefit from what y'all know and would be grateful for the input. So... consider making the leap.

I'm sure it won't feel the same, especially to the folks that came here as Exiles from even earlier locales, built this place up to be something special, and whose Fender partisanship is more exclusive than mine... but I wanted (in my long-winded way) to chime in and say that both places held a special place in my heart not so long ago and I'll cherish the good times and all the things I learned and shared with the good folks of the TFF.

Pete, Steve, Tom, Chuck, Yves, Mark and the fellas I've lost track of through other means... I hope our paths cross again someday, after awhile.

'Bye folks, & thanks for all the good advice & friendly discussion.
( I always felt TFF was more laid back & relaxed than the LPF).

As I'm already an LPF member, maybe I'll see you there.

I've made some really good friends here - hope to see some of you on the other side! (funny - I have more Les Pauls than I do Fenders of any kind, but haven't really participated on LPF...)

Re: I've got good news, & I've got bad news

I can certainly see the case for Café Wah heading off into the sunset (I stop in every so often, and there hasn't been a post there in almost a year at this point.)
but this seems to be a pretty vibrant bunch, albeit less active than LPF.
I wonder if the LPF can sort of morph into something welcoming of these other slabs as well, maybe a dedicated Fender section. (though that would require a redefining of what that forum is about.)

Re: I've got good news, & I've got bad news

Is there any way to archive TFF so that we can still search? Is there space within the LPF for that? I have no idea what is needed for that to happen and it may not be reasonably possible. Just askin'.

I know my post count is very low, but I have learned tons from TFF and the LPF. These sites are my trusted first try resources when I have a question. I usually find my answer from searching the archive, and if I don't I'm usually entertained and learn something else along the way.

    Thanks

I haven't had a Les Paul in years and currently have no desire for one. I still enjoy the Les Paul Forum and average one post per day there. There's some real good amp talk and discussion of other Gibsons.

THAT is why I liked it here!

So - is it possible that we can get a bunch of TFFers banned before they pull the plug? Not me, mind you.... I've been there and don't want to do it again, but everyone should be banned at least once!

This goes back to the time that the moors invaded Spain, and converted to cathederal in Cordoba to a mosque to show everyone that they are the only religion. I'll have to wander over to the LPF then.

You guys have an open invitation to friend me on facebook as well - some of you already have - it's Johnny Bornheimer over there. I'll see what I can do as far as getting signed up on the LPF, as I do actually have a few Gibby's and Epi's...
