Sunday morning coffee and appreciation tko thread

heh heh, no I didn't watch the fight. about to head back downstairs to get a fresh cup of coffee of the new pot that just brewed. then it's over to my brother's house to feed the cat while they are on vacation.

sold my lefty strat, still trying to sell my CV60 strat, next up will likely be the custom shop hard tail. although I will be stratless for a while when those two sell, I have a neck, bridge and trem block, pick guards and pickups. All I'd need would be a neck plate and screws, trem claw and screws and strap buttons. After I find a suitable body of course.

then I'm trying to decide what to do about my Esquire. If the custom shop sells, I won't need to sell the esquire for a long time and maybe by then a revenue stream will open. As much as I don't want to part it, I'd sell the body before I get rid of that MIJ Esquire neck. What a thing of beauty that is.

Birds are chirping, trees are beginning to get some semblance of things to come. Of course my stupid honey locusts look winter dead still. First to drop in fall, last to come out in spring. drop shit continuously once they do. I'd really like to get rid of those trees.

I think I might have given myself a hernia or pulled something in my groin yesterday so I'm taking it easy today. I'm going to replace the pull cord on the mower, do a few things on that Ampeg Jet that I posted about and a few other things.

Doing some outdoor stuff first. The Mrs. is going to paint the fiberglass columns I replaced a couple weeks ago. The wooden ones had cracked and rotted. Since her concussion she gets dizzy, so I'll be spotting her on the ladder (she won't let me touch a paintbrush). then we'll have a nice dinner out to celebrate our 17th anniversary.

I have to grade a stack of papers--last week of the semester and it's going to take some motivation to get them done. Such an inside job on a beautiful day. Wish I drank--I'd get a little liquid encouragement.

Between laundry and mowing, I'm going to try to work on my chops for a bit, then do some writing. I've got a concept album boiling, just got to spend some serious time on it.

Woke up this mornin'..... Sounds like the intro to a blues tune but for me at my age it's called "an accomplishment"! Ground me some super dark beans and got the pot going. On the third cup and thinking about breakfast. Biscuits and bacon? Moving slow as I was up late last night watching The Bridge on the River Kwai. Hard to believe it was made in 1957. I remember when it first hit the theaters and my whole family going to see it. Time passes so quickly.

Checked on the two dogs that got into a hell-of-a fight yesterday evening. An aging husky and a younger moderate sized mix-breed with lots of golden lab. Both females. Both got attitude. Both got tore up pretty bad as a result of the fight. They're both moving even slower than me this morning. They're in rough shape. Especially the old husky, though her younger nemesis did get her ass kicked pretty hard by the old husky. Like me, she's still got some fight left in her, but very little these days.

Today I begin my "New Phone Training" as I now have joined the ranks of "fancy-schmancy" phone owners. It's got all sorts of stuff. Androids, G-mails, apps stuff, and tons of other things too. And of course I know little to nothing about it. But if I apply myself I may figure out some of it. Hey, I got e-mail going with it last night. Maybe later I can figure out how to get "apps" for it. I heard they even got guitar tuner apps. Not that I need one, but what the hell, sumpin' to do right? My hope is to watch a YouTube thing. Never seen one. Maybe volumeknob's got his own rock video of himself wailing on his white SG? It could happen!

New buffer arrived for my .22 auto loading rifle yesterday. Will install it later when I'm more awake and my hands work better. There's a tiny "E" clip that holds the pin for the buffer. If I loose that E clip I'm done for. Will coat it with grease before I remove it. That way it'll stick in the grease and not fly off into the ozone and be lost when I slip it from the pin's end. Old mechanic's trick applied to gunsmithing. Hey, if it works, it works, right? Bill Moore and Roger know what I'm talking about here. Big slab of grease keeps bearing from flying all over the place huh guys??

But before I enter into my "busy day" another cup of coffee and taking time to reflect on the morning.....
    Later guys...

Came in for some water.......been dealing with drainage issues on the North side of my house/hill/ finished the 3 foot deep 3 foot wide 35' long trench (through roots and hard red Alabama Clay) got all my "re-purposed lumber" laid out (left over from a boardwalk on the front of the house i ripped up and am redoing.
Will finish the wall itself today, next week then drain pipe, aggregate and replace the wood on the wall and repaint.......
The only time you really live fully is from thirty to sixty. The young are slaves to dreams; the old servants of regrets. Only the middle-aged have all their five senses in the keeping of their wits.

Good Lord, VK......that sounds like WORK!

Thankfully I live in an area permeated by the availability of cheap labor.
