We were lucky that he played so well for so long. Sure, his shows became talk fests and his licks may not have been stellar, but he still put out a few good albums in the last 20 years. Riding with the King is one of my favorite albums. But I go back to Live at Cook Co. Jail. One of the best live albums ever.

    RIP BB King.

The Thrill Will NEVER BE Gone... RIP BB King
Over the years I've been blessed to have seen him like 13 or 14 times and I've met and spoken with him three times. There has never been a more humble, caring entertainer ever. He was the true meaning of class and grace. God bless the memory of Riley B. King...

A great man, who did what he did, like no one else.
"I'm gonna play this guitar until the day I die"

Albert Castiglia posted this picture of BB a little while back, as a tribute to the man - I like it.
    He said "you dig"?

Thanks BB for helping us all feel good for so long!
    Love to you

I began to like the blues in the first place after I listened to him.

I have no words to express our loss. His life was that of legend even before leaving it.
A gentle giant of the blues and a true gentleman to the world.

With all his health issues, I'm surprised we had him around as long as we did, and he still was entertaining us!

I've never got to see him in the flesh, but I've often read that although he was a blues legend, he was a nice guy and very sweet with fans and people in general...

    Re: The Thrill Is Gone......

When doing my police thing, we'd do a lot of off duty security work for numerous events around town. The LT. that ran the off duty stuff knew that I was a guitar guy so he'd always offer me those gigs when they'd come up. Since I did a lot of body guard work as well, I usually got to work the backstage area. Handy to meet many musicians huh? But back to brother B.... On those occasions that he'd be in town for a concert I got to work three of them over the years. He was absolutely one of the most polite and courteous men I've ever met. When I had a moment to talk with him as he was waiting for his dressing room to be set up, I asked him about how he always hits the right note no matter what. He chuckled a little and said "Oh I hit some bad 'un's here and there. When that happens I bend up a bit to find a right one and do a little vibrato to make it sound like I meant to do it." I smiled and told him that I never seen or heard him hit a bad note. He smiled and said "Well then I guess my little trick works huh?" and them he headed off to his dressing room to ready for the show. Yeah, he was a real gentleman and a joy to be around, even if it was only a few minutes at a time moving about the backstage area. And he called every officer "Sir" despite all of us being young at the time.
I forgot what I was going to say...
