    Sunday mawning and coffee

sipping coffee on a gorgeous day (for a change). getting stuff together to take to the dump tomorrow, trash and recyling. got my sticker last week, time to get busy clearing stuff out of here. if mom moves to a home (getting more likely all the time) there's 50+ years worth of clutter here to sort. Some tears will undoubtedly be shed as things are not getting passed along as they used to. There's so much furniture here that we don't even use and has just been sitting in the cellar from when my grandmother downsized from first a house, to an apartment, to a nursing home. None of us kids have any need or room for it.

Going to do a few household things, then jamming this evening with a few guys. I'm playing bass for a change and really looking forward to it. Drummer's got a really good Peavey head and cab. Thing sounds phenomenal.

    Re: Sunday mawning and coffee

Up at 7.... coffee ground in the old hand grinder and brewed in my old enameled pot. "Stiff" pretty much describes it's flavor. I suppose my manner of making coffee could be referred to as "old analog" next to the fancy devices out these days. But I don't mind.... It sure beats the 7-11 coffee I used to get when working patrol as a cop.

Big storm blew through about an hour ago. Dumped more rain upon an over saturated land. A couple counties west of me there was flooding with a creek that overflowed an estimated mile in either direction or more. Some folks needed to be rescued from their flooded homes.... No tornadoes this time thank goodness.

Been enjoying this new fanged smart phone. Watched my first Youtube. Saw a kid I knew from some years ago wail at what looked like a G.C. store gathering. It was Andy Timmons. Shucks, I remember him as a little skinny blonde haired kid that would come into the shop and play nearly every guitar on the wall and never spoke a disrespectful word. Nice kid and I liked it when he came in to visit. Told the shop owner that kid will do well someday. Guess he did too.

And I even now have a Bluetooth earpiece for phone conversations. Holding the phone becomes a challenge with the diminishing abilities in the hands. As a plus to that it rests in my one good ear so I hear conversations far better as a result. As I near my seventh decade on this planet little things are appreciated. Even if it's a little gizmo that sits in my ear to better use the phone or to see a kid I once knew do good and play on Youtube. Yup, Sunday mawning and coffee at my place is good today. Going for another cup as we speak.

Dan - thats a tough one. My parents just move up north (Maine) and I hate it. I can't spend time with them, can't help much.
I hope that the best that can happen - does.

Wanted to go to Chesapeake blues fest today - but money is light. so staying home also - doing much needed sorting and cleaning.

Had a vey cool gig last week - did sound for Chris Duarte. His band is astounding. Show was a little loud, but Great. Wonderful people and a great crowd.
This week JP BLues, and I am working on a few things to make the lighting better. Today will be putting some thought into that.

I review photos, and see how to make it better based on what I saw. The hard thing is that each show, all pa/lighting must come down. makes it tough to maintain continuity.

I am celebrating my completion of another orbit around the sun today. The WX is beautiful so I'll be deploying my Chevelle in a "force projection exercise" in and about town this afternoon. Beyond that, the "first sergeant" is cooking me a roast-beef-with-all-the-trimmings dinner. Life is good.

Congrats, Fantasma. Best wishes from the land of Samba.

As for sunday morning coffee, I had my usual 2 mugs of home brewed black and sugar reading the news and went to visit my daughter at her mom's. Helped her take her pet to the vet. Woke up with a slight hangover, last night I had some beer with my old man...

Will probably just read something and chill until the evening, then I'll pick up the Strat and play some bluesy stuff (my former bassist invited me for a blues trio project he's intending to put together, I accepted) to get the rust off my very limited blues licks, and watch Game of Thrones on HBO...

    Nice sunday.

On the plus side, Kenny, you need to go through Connecticut to visit the folks. We'll leave the light on for ya!

Well, for what it's worth I hit the upright side of the pillow at 4:30 am today and have enjoyed a day filled with love and friends so what more can a person ask for.

I went, I saw, I jammed the bass with pals. Now I'm all Ringo and have blisters on my plucking fingers. Battle wounds!
