A couple of acts that are really spectacular! My good friends Bob Margolin, and Albert Castiglia, and of course the Nighthawks, and Samantha Fish!!

Sitting at Denny's waiting on a Slam and the guy who's coming to buy my old cordless drill. It's been an insane week, and yesterday was a whisky BBQ blowout with Bob & Magi, so when I get back home it's a whole lotta nothing. Well, Lisa might drag me out to the garden... But nothing heavier than mulch.
Also, RE: Samantha Fish... The world needs another blues guitarist like it needs a hole to China, but I'll bet those teeny dresses bring all the boys to the yard.
I finally put new front brakes on my wife's car. The wear indicator on the passenger's side has been noisy for a while.
My son got his Chevy 5.7 liter V8 in a Volvo 740 wagon running today. Makes funny noises. The engine is sitting too low and the crank is hitting the oil pan!!! Big re-do. Still, it fired up and ran!
I'm having quite a relaxing day. It's a bit cold, been raining all morning...
Stayed home and fiddled around some country rock stuff I'm putting together with the band.
Mug of coffee always full, it helps keeping warm...
Just had some pork roast w/ apple sauce for lunch and the afternoon will be spent reading some Hemingway on the couch...
Later there's the new episode of Game of Thrones on HBO, I can't miss it.
Good day y'all
This is the second time I've woken up today--coffee at 4:30-8, slept again until noon. Woke up in a panic and then realized all that I want to do today can still be done. There are still lots of hours in the day. It's sunny and hot here today. Mowing the lawn will have to wait until about 6:30pm. In between, a lot of work for the college.

teeny dresses?
Puts his glasses on...
Now back to topic.
Church: end of a pre-service lecture series on the Decalogue, then church. We have a new member of clergy - a bear of a man from the Maritimes who is a good preacher.
After that, a huge lunch with my grandson before we head out to do a bit of work in the garden. Perhaps we should have eaten the big lunch later? Time will tell. In any case, it's a really nice day for planting: not too hot, cloudy on and off to keep it cool.
Pork marinating for bbq later (charcoal bbq - I am a classicist).

de Melo,
Which Hemingway are you reading? Did you tell me already? I'm a great fan of his books. The literary era of the first half of the 20th century, Modernism, is my favorite time in the history of literature.

Willie, Hemingway is probably my favorite American writer.
Right now I'm reading "Fiesta" (often referred to as "The sun also rises"), it's one of his novels I like best. My book's cover is already quite shabby, I read it hundreds of times:
I also like his short stories, especially "Big two-hearted River" part I and II. I find Nick Adams to be a fascinating character...
Oh yes, of course, Ernest Hemingway
Not Gregory?
I teach Fiesta / The Sun Also Rises every semester. It's simple enough for my students to read but deceptively complex, which gives us something to think about and discuss. It's my second favorite--I love A Moveable Feast, which helped spark my love for Paris and Europe in general. I met my ex wife on my first stay in France and we have two children, so I guess those two Hemingway books are partly responsible for my children (that and a hearty dose of "I love children" and a gleam in our eyes).

Three gigs in 24 hours ending 2am this morning, including about 250 miles of driving. I feel like a truck hit me today - haven't moved more than 10 feet from my chair all day!
Ups and downs - good Friday night gig; excellent festival gig Saturday afternoon. Meh Saturday night private party gig; party crowd didn't really materialize, PA issues and band drama undercurrents kind of killed the mood for me.
Tell my why I do this again?
