So I'm at a backyard BBQ with a bunch of friends and acquaintances yesterday...and the host had the radio tuned to a very eclectic - but mainly classic rock - station that played literally anything and everything.
I was mildly impressing my friends with knowing, for example, who did the song "Brandy" (Looking Glass) or who did the song "Dancin' in the Moonlight" (King Harvest) and who did the "ooga-chaka" version of "Hooked on a Feeling" (Blue Swede), when BB King came on - and many people are pretty familiar with BB. So as "The Thrill is Gone" was playing I kept listening and I finally said "I think that this is a newer version of the song, I wonder if they reissued it." Plus I kept hearing a Stratocaster...sounded like Clapton...so I said as much out loud and one of the guys used his smart phone to "sample" the music and it then told him that the track was from the BB King & Friends - 80 album.
So of course then they looked at me like I was the Rain Man... but to me, Clapton's guitar playing is like a voice, that you recognize even when he's not singing...
Who else is like that for all you 's?
