So, as you friends might have read in my latest posts, I finally got the band straight and we have a new drummer, he's getting along just fine with our project and we do mostly classic rock with some blues and country thrown in.
Well, it happens that our formation is the simple 4 dudes, 2 guitarists (the other one sings), 1 bassist and 1 drummer.
We try to keep our setlist simple and functional, avoiding songs that feature keyboards, piano, and any effects that will demand another player or arranging a guitar to do something it ain't meant to do.
But it also happens that some songs fit our taste and setlist like a glove, my favorite is Roadhouse Blues, by the Doors. I don't need any drugs to get high playing that song, and it sounds KILLER when played on an overdriven SSS strat or Tele (sorry Mr. Krieger, I know you dig SGs but for that one Fenders rock).
Many people play it without the piano/keyboard, but I don't know.
My question is: suppose you attend a local gig, and the guys play that song without the keys. Would you like it as much, or would you feel that something is missing? Your opinion is VERY important. We'll give it a go next saturday at the studio rehearsal, but I'd love to know what other musicians think.
