Voulme knob

Hi all,
Am new to this forum and was wondering if someone can tell me what volume knob controls what PU on a '98 J- bass. I've always assumed that the rear knob controls the bridge PU while the front knob controls the neck PU but i'm not sure. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming it's a 3 knob bass? If so, starting with the knob closest to you and going away it should be neck pup, bridge pup, tone. That's how most J basses are wired. Unless you have "stack knobs" or active pickups, that should be it.
