Yeah! One thing I love about Spotify....you play a station from an artist you know, and then you get to hear random cool stuff from other related styles of music.

Rubber Soul was a big leap for them. To me, it sounds like a bridge between the older stuff and that which was to come. It still has a couple of those I love you don't be blue kind of songs, but they're getting away from that. Most of the songs on Rubber Soul are brilliant.

I listened to what I think is one of the finest albums any member of CSN has ever made: David Crosby's Croz. I loved it when it came out but hadn't listened to it in a couple of years. Hard to believe that it came out five years ago. The songwriting and musicianship is stellar. I love his voice on this album. What a great blend of melodies and lyrics in the tunes.

speaking of chick bands, about 10 years ago I saw (more on the seeing part in a moment) an all girl Zeppelin tribute band. The band was incredible and I have to say, the drummer was utterly astounding. She may not have hit as hard as Bonzo but the playing was spot on.
As for the seeing part, well, it wasn't the eyes that were at fault. Now I've grown up in NH and have long been accustomed to being taller than average. I may, and repeat, may have lost a half inch, maybe 3/4 of an inch in height. There must be something in the water because I was more inline with armpits and shoulders than I was with scalps. I could barely see shit and it wasn't just a tall sprout here and there. Practically the whole damn audience was a good bit taller than I.
I agree - wonderful music. Saw him sing it live along with his newer album last year (my friend Jeff Pevar was his guitarist).. He really got better with age.

I just got a set of Bang and Olufsen wireless earbuds which are the most insanely accurate sound source I've ever listened to. I put on Graham Nash's Songs for Survivors and was amazed at all the detail that I'd missed over the years. I got them through Amazon Vine - free as long as I write an honest review. Loved the music - loved the sound!

I am pretty much a fan of anything B&O makes. I've had them as my audio system since the 1970s. My first was a complete component system, and my current setup is a BeoSound Oevurture with the active tower speakers. That you get a pair for free for reviewing them is quite a bonus! How do I sign up for this program???
The Amazon Vine program is an invitation-only program. I wrote a ton of "helpful" reviews and it must have triggered an algorithm which invited me into the program. I log into my web page and choose between a number of items - it started as mostly books but now includes all kinds of cool things. Besides the earbuds (and about a dozen others over the years) I've gotten laptops, mattresses, audio equipment, music stuff, cooking stuff, etc. I just got a Tempurpedic mattress about a month ago - never slept better in my life. Speaking of Bang and Olufsen, tomorrow they're delivering this ...

This speaker totally revamped what good music sounds like in my mind. I am a traditionalist - High-end stereo speakers with a good amp, pre-amp and turntable (OK - CD player too). I love my "traditional system, but this speaker rawks big time! Crystal clear sound that fills the house with sound. When my wife first saw it she was a bit set back - shes not into Danish modern; but after listening to it she got so excited she bought a small table and put it right in the front foyer. From that location it can be heard anywhere in the house. It stays crisp and clear even at high levels - really amazing sound!

yesterday I was listening to the catalog of Deep Purple, the first four albums, none of which I ever owned. After checking them out I'm now pretty convinced I prefer MkII DP to the original line up. Definitely harder and more metal.
today I'm listening to Blue Oyster Cult's first album as I type this.

I have a good friend who's into Townes Van Zandt, so I made up a playlist of albums by Townes, John Prine, and James Taylor. I try to like Prine's earlier work, but much of it isn't to my taste. However, when he has a good one, it's good. I think is latest album is great. I have to admit that I'll have to listen more to Townes to appreciate him if I can. I already love James Taylor, especially the first five albums and then the last five albums of original material.

Turns out a young guy (20 years old) at work is a B.B. King fan. After listening to a video clip on YouTube, I went looking for more, and came across this 1993 show with B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, and Jeff Beck. Whew!
Oh, here is the clip he had playing when we started chatting. Jeff Healey's playing with B.B. King and others is incredible!

In August I read the new SRV book. I have his concert DVD's and box set, and went back and bought all his studio albums and listened to them as I read through the book.
This week I started looking back at Eric Clapton's career and ordered his Blues Breakers album, Eric Clapton, 461 Ocean Blvd, EC was Here, The Road to Escondido.
Andy Aledort’s? Very good one! I’ve talked to him once or twice via social networks, the guy is very cool and knows A LOT.
I got the book too on my Kindle.
