I didn't want to hijack this thread, so I'm starting this one because the Oscar Schmidt Delta King image posted by @mikesr1963 really caught my eye. Not that I'm looking for a(nother) 335, but because I was astounded at the price!
Checking on Reverb, I see there are quite a number of Oscar Schmidt guitars, including Strat-types, LP-types and the assorted semi-hollowbodies, as well as ukes, basses, autoharps, acoustics, banjoes and more. Holy cow, that's a lot of instruments!
So, what's the deal on these? The guitars are listed as "hand made," but their prices are astoundingly low. There aren't a lot of specs on them (neck profile, pickup types/models), but they look good. Are they "beater" guitars? For beginners only? Given the variety and the long history of Oscar Schmidt, I'm surprised that more isn't known about this brand.
Or have I been living in a cave, and am the only one NOT familiar with them?
