    Vintage Ampeg Bass?

I always loved Bad Company bassist Boz Burell's fretless Ampeg.

I'm not interested i buying one, but I wonder if any of you guys have had experience with them. I have heard the reissues out now are not that great, but that's based on only a few reviews.

The only Ampeg I ever saw was played by a German bassist who was playing with one of our local legends, Jon Paul. It was an upright bass but just a neck and a peg, which is how Ampeg got their name. Unfreaking believably good sounding, though.

Actually, my second bass was an Ampeg P Bass type, but playing it upside down was too difficult--1977, I think. It was a beautiful bass though I can't say anything about the sound because the only amp I had was a clapboard thing almost cardboard, speaker blown. I"d only been playing about 7 months.
