    NBD back on 12/7

Sorry I am cross posting, but in the other thread topic it seemed MIA, LOL.
Dingwall Combustion 5 weighing only 8.5 lbs
Unfortunately, I have already moved it to my new digs 1000 miles away (as well as all but 2 of my instruments). Will reunite with it early next year.

Multi scale length (34-37) with fanned frets.

Can you enlighten me on "multi-scale?" How does a guitar become multi-scale?

Well let’s first look at a set scale length guitar/bass. The nut and bridge are parallel to each other. Each string has effectively the same intonation length. Frets are parallel to these as well.

Now think of when you seen a grand piano. The length of the bass strings is much longer than those of the treble strings. Now since a piano uses keys with a hammer/plectrum at a fixed place, no harm no foul.

when applying that to a fretted instrument using a nut and bridge, they need to be angled. Likewise the frets will need variable angles.

if you look at the pic, you see there is significant difference in bridge position on the low vs high strings. At the nut end, the same thing happens, but in reverse.

Now look at the frets, see they are angled as well. That angle works to a parallel plane then actually start angling the other direction

the benefit is: like a piano, you can use an optimized string size and tension for each root string, like a piano.

playing one, you would think it would require new muscle memory, but it really doesn’t. It’s well worked out. After a few minutes you can follow Zappas advice, shut up and play
    your guitar.
