The March of Sundays (for Sunday, March 6)

Greetings from the Sunshine State. I am completing my annual pilgrimage to Florida's gulf coast, where I attend a black-tie dinner every year (except for the COVID-interrupted 2021 gala). Some may consider it madness to hop a flight, rent a car and stay in a hotel all for the sake of a dinner event, but no one has ever accused me of being sane. I've been doing this for nigh on 35 years.

And it's nice to get a sense of what post-COVID life can be like, although there are still face masks present (and required on the airlines). The weather has been Florida "standard:" sunny, highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.

WATER. The standard, accepted definition of water is, "A colorless, odorless, tasteless liquid." Except in Florida. Every time I come I am reminded that I am in central Florida because the water smells and tastes like sulfur. Long-time residents don't seem to notice, but it always strikes me that water pretty much everywhere else adheres to the definition. Ugh. Even many Florida residents get bottled water for drinking. I drink a lot of water...

So, it's Sunday. As posted elsewhere, I escaped my trip without buying anything guitar-related, but did spend a nice hour or so at a nifty guitar shop in St. Petersburg. I paid a visit to my father's grave, ate lunch at my favorite seafood place, and took a break from winter and work. That all ends tomorrow.

How was your week, and do you have anything lined up in the coming days?

Finally an easier weekend. I seem to be handling the issues at work at last, been kinda tough.

Anyway, slept well and woke up reinvigorated. Will head to a friend’s home studio this afternoon to record the bass line for my soon to be released single. Already did the guitar and drums. Can’t wait to be on Apple Music and Spotify, though recording the final take with the band will be very hard work.

Fred, how is the weather in Florida? Is it warm enough on Summer for people not to wear jackets? It’s probably closer to the tropical hell we have in Northeastern Brazil (I mean the temperature. I love hot weather and beaches). My guess is that Florida is warmer and wetter than California, right?

This has got to be one of the strangest winters I've experienced here on the western coast of Lake Michigan. On Thursday I probably had a foot of snow on the ground in my yard. Yesterday it was around 50° and raining so hard that streets were flooding. This was shot last night in front of a local brew pup when police had blocked off the street due to flooding. Today, the snow is almost gone from my yard.

On a lighter note, tomorrow I'll do the paperwork and pay for my new Corvette and, hopefully, bring it home on Tuesday before the typical winter weather can move back in.

HOPE ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEK.

finally getting some decent weather, last week's snow storm is melting albeit not fast enough for me. Low 60s today with some sun, some rain expected tomorrow late morning. Time to get out today.

This winter has been one of discontent as far as exercise goes. My weight is up about 10#, my walking trend is almost half of what it was up to October with the demolition. Nov and Dec I had no car so I didn't get to the gym. Jan and Feb, night driving sucked so badly I also stayed away. I don't tend to go to the gym during the day, I may need to change that mindset. I need to get off the computer and get out of the house more.

Nothing new on guitar front, not playing much, need to change that, too. My brother got his commission check, has to deal with a few things regarding distributing funds, taxes etc and then we can hopefully get some idea of a budget. We need an electrician in here, like 10 months ago lol.

Good luck with the recording, Sérgio! Let us know when it hits the shelves.

Florida is mostly a humid, subtropical climate, rated on the Köppen-Geiger scale as Cwa. Southern Florida becomes more tropical (see map):

By the same measure, Brazil is more tropical, with southern regions being a bit more sub-tropical.

Right now I’m a bit homesick for FL. I’m a native and moved earlier this year to IN. While I haven’t minded the cold, it finally got into the 50s so I could wear some shorts.

building a new closet and 2 days behind schedule. Got to put it aside as I have an audition Thursday and the guitar for the set list I need to perform a setup on and restring. Also need to learn the songs. Lots to do before Thursday evening.

friend of mine lives in Jupiter, FL moved there 30+ years ago, bought his house for 40K, I just looked it was valued over 780K. That's more than 10 times the inflation rate.
