It's been a long time since I listened to surf music, but in addition to the above, I add the obvious: Beach Boys, Jan & Dean.

They don’t label themselves necessarily as a surf band but Allah Las is great
maybe some Dick Dale, never really listened to the Beach Boys. I lived in NH, where just walking to the surf line was an exercise in agony from feet cramps on the freezing sand. Maybe if we had a major heat wave, the ocean was almost tolerable.

My high school band was a surf band, that genre stayed popular here well into the 70's. Being a drummer, I especially hated playing "Wipeout" for so many years!
