I'm an old Gibson guy, so when I got my first Fender guitar - a Duo Sonic (dual single coil pickups) last week I was excited with thoughts of Jimi Hendrix and Keith Richards. BUT I was surprised to hear a high hiss produced when I turned up the volume knob on the guitar. Fender tells me this is "natural" for single coil pickups. Really? I'm used to being able to crank my ES335 all the way up without hiss. OK - so I deal with it. Please, what are the fixes and work arounds?
Only one......noiseless pickups. There are several brands available, DiMarzio's are my personal favorite. A stand-alone noise gate pedal may help. My Zoom G1X amp simulator has such a function.

eh, good enough for Hendrix, Beck, Clapton, Page (yes, he did play some), Knopfler, Gilmour (yeah, I know he migrated to EMGs) Blackmore, Hank Marvin and countless of others. But, yes, it's the nature of the beast.

Not as much a problem as it used to be, but single coils hate neon!
Light dimmers are another source of noise.

Play loud enough and the hum won’t be an issue
