I could probably put this into a number of forum sections: Acoustic, Other Guitars, Basses, since it fits them all.
Wild and impetuous guy that I am, I jumped on MF's Stupid Deal of the Day today and purchased a Spector Timbre 4 Jr. Short Scale Acoustic-Electric bass. The deal knocked off (per their ad) $500 (the street price is more like $600+) so even a $300 reduction is a pretty sweet deal. Just over $300 with free shipping.
Why did I do this? Several reasons, which all fit my sitch:
- It's acoustic. I can play, practice and learn without needing to plug in.
- It's electric. But I can plug in, when I want to
- It's short scale. 30" - slightly longer than my Ibanez MiKro bass, which I think fits me well, size-wise.
- Spector gets great reviews on the bass forums and the TalkingBass site.
- As a learning tool, it could help me prep for taking the bass slot in my church's worship band.
