Re: Do you love playing your Les Paul? I'm torn

My son’s first electric guitar was a 335 Gibson he purchased while in high school and he added a 25th Anniversary Strat after that. The Strat was sold around 30 years ago and I managed to track it down, buy it back, and give to him as a Christmas gift around 5 years ago. The 335 and the Strat spend most of their time in the case as he seems to , religiously, play his Les Paul.

I hope his 25th anniversary Strat is lighter than mine. That ingot of northern ash weighed over fifteen pounds!

It is quite a heavy guitar, but some say the density of the wood used in those guitars give them a bit more sustain.

I do have to admit that mine was one of the best sounding Strats I ever owned. It was just too damn heavy for prolonged stage use.

Every time a 2014 Gibson Anniversary Les Paul gets modded a collector cries somewhere.

I've got a one-owner 40th Anniversary Les Paul that is dead stock, right down to the OEM Sonomatic strings. I've often thought of replacing the P100's with '57 Classic 'Buckers but then I think, "Naw......".

Laker, tell your son I'll give him $40 bucks for the 57 Classic neck and Super 57 bridge pup that came out of that guitar.

Original strap locks are worth money too.
