Sweet! The "granddaddy" of Martin guitars!
(My browser - Arc - chokes on the image, so I can only view the headstock down to about the 5th fret. But I know what D-18s look like.)
Congrats!

Nice! I've heard them referred to as a "lap-cannon"
Lol
My 1996 HD28 vintage reissue is a lap cannon, for sure. The forward bracing sees to it. But it also sees to the clearer treble. The D-28s also have that sweetness. The Beatles White Album is proof enough. Lot of Martin D-28 on that since John and Paul carried them to India and came back full of tunes--partially, I'd suspect, inspired by those guitars.
If we'd known we were going to be the Beatles, we'd have tried harder.--George Harrison
Nice guitar!! Martins sound amazing!!
Got them Statesboro Blues
The D28 forms the basis for all of Martin's "super dreadnaughts" (D35, D41, D45). They're exceptional instruments, all. You've got a fine guitar there, Mark!

Thank you. Now I need to put some electronics in it so I can use it live. Probably put an Anthem system in it. Have in my OOO Martin and Guild 12.
