Hello all. I want to give a shot at building a Princeton reverb. I looked at the stew Mac and mojotone small parts kit. I know it’s easier to just use the kits, but I wanted to upgrade the pots, caps ( replacing the orange drop), and tube sockets. I want to use quality parts but not get ridiculous about it. Any opinions on this? What brands should I look at and where’s the best place to shop? Thanks
I built a 5E3 tweed Deluxe clone a couple of years back using nearly all vintage NOS components (US-made CTS pots, Allen-Bradley carbon-comp resistors, vintage Amphenol ceramic tube sockets, etc) and I found everything I needed on Ebay, including a '61 Jensen P12Q with original coil/cone assembly. Aside from the F&T electrolytic caps in the filter array there are no other imported parts.

I buy quite a few parts from the commercial side of Antique Electronic Supply, good people to deal with! If you need to be "period correct" do what Phantoman did. If you need a circuit board, Mojotone is one source. I usually build my own, but this fellow has sold me templates in the past.

Start with an all-steel repro chassis and an authentic all-pine cabinet. You might consider a 12-inch speaker upgrade since the options are more plentiful and the larger driver will yield more bottom-end beef. From there just fill in the blanks......
