    My Summer Vacation:

So this story really started about two yrs ago when I ran across this antique dealer on eBay. Apparently, he purchased an old theater that someone had been using for storage. Or maybe he bought the contents of the theater. I don't know. But among the items that were inside, there were hundreds of cans of old acrylic lacquer in pints & quarts. I jumped on a dozen or so over a period of a month. The internet has a way with colors, so it really was a crap shoot as to what I was buying would look like on a piece of wood. I was excited, but the stuff sat on a shelf in my garage for a long time.
In May of this year, I had my hip replaced. I was out of commission for quite a while. As I started to heal, I remembered all the paint I had stored in the garage. Out there were also a bunch of Strat & Tele styled bodies that have similarly languished. So I bought some expensive reducer, fired up my compressor, & away we go. Here are some of the results:

Deep Blue Metallic. I'll show two pics again & it will look a different shade. BTW, that metallic "flash" is gone. This was just a few coats in

Yes, I know. Terrible orange peel. It's been in the ⁰80s here

This one is actually from a different account, it's a commissioned piece for a friend. The body is a Canadian Tonebomb, the finish is Mopar F8, or Jade Green

Medium Cashmere Metallic Telecaster. One of the first, so a lot of orange peel until I got my gun dialed in & my chops got better

We all get our kicks in the most interesting ways. I like that Medium Cashmere Metallic Telecaster!

I had painting done this week, too. But it was on my house (long story short: I had some wood repair done and the paint wasn't matched exactly. So, I'm having to repaint the entire trim to match the new paint).

Clever use of an old turntable, too!

Of course even after all the beautiful paint, you're just getting started! Anxious to see the finished projects!

I currently have 2 Strat necks & 3 Tele necks, all waiting for the clear to come out. As soon as I get all the color sprayed, it's time for the clearcoats!

    Those look outstanding, Robert!

I still have a box of surplus Strat parts -- pickguards, knobs, jack boats, the usual.
