Most of my recent gigs are on a fretless acoustic/electric bass. I just added a shorter scale fretless acoustic/electric bass, due to arrive early next week.

    Schweet!!!

A guy at last night's get together played one of these: Eastman Mandocello. Gave me GAS.

the Firebird arrived today. Great condition and LW. Dropped it off for a pup change (as I dont want to dig through the storage unit for my soldering iron. )
Update, the Jazzmaster arrived today. True to a JM, At points in the fret board you get sympathetic buzz behind the bridge. A full pocket shim, Mastery bridge, and for fun, some Novak pickups. Still less than a MIM which I would still put a Mastery on.

I've wanted a mandocello for YEARS. I just can't get over the price tag, even for an imported model.

I hear you. My jaw dropped when I saw the price tag on it.

Well picked up the Firebird today after a pup replacement. Sounds and plays great. Unfortunately got got bitten by something just traded in this AM. Fender CS 60 Tele. 3 tone SB with a dark RW board. Has 50HW pups listed on the COA. The neck pup is no slouch. It?s on its way home with me.

im done. I have to be done.

Seriously , I?m out of room. The closet for cased instruments I had to arrange horizontally (pain in the but if you want one closer to the bottom), rather than vertically as was previous.

I can maybe get 1 more on the walls in the room. Will check tomorrow.

I'm in the same boat. If I didn't have three guitars on stands in my living/playing room, I'd be SOL as far as storage space in my guitar room. And my attic can't stand another shipping carton.

That said, I'm this close to pulling the trigger on a new Guild Traveler. A collaboration between Guild and Traveler Guitar. All mahogany (no HPL) in a tiny form factor with gig bag. I mean he77, I still have GC gift cards to burn...

Damn, got bit again by a stupid deal of the day. Squire Classic Vibe Late 60s Jazz Bass in Lake Placid Blue. Heh, it was 300 shipped and my only basses with a somewhat Jazz pup set up is a fret less J Bass with tape wounds and a Spector with an active PJ setup.

I can do “growl” with the Ric, but now I have something dedicated to that tone.
For non bass players, I wish I could have a better analogy without referencing esoteric people. Think Ric - early Rush, Jazz - late Rush.

LOL! I nearly posted that here for the plethora of bass players we have. But then I figured I'd be held responsible for someone buying something they might not have otherwise. I'm glad I'm saved! And I'm happy you snatched one up!

Re: What Have You Bought Guitar-Related In The Past 48 Hours?

I was at Guitar Center yesterday playing small body acoustic guitars with cutaways and pickups yesterday.
I was thoroughly impressed with this Alvarez, and it was on sale for $429.
It had a couple of bad frets, 10th and 12th, so brought it the repair counter and opened the discussion.
At some point the guy just took off and was swamped by 3 other customers needing assistance.
No need to get excited. I just quietly left and several hours later did something I never do. I saw it online at Musician's Friend for the same deal and ordered it before I knew what I was doing.
Sure hope it's a good one when it shows up.
I'm not throwing the boxes away immediately!

That's a nice looking guitar, and a terrific price! Over the past year or two, I've been fascinated by the less expensive, non-Big Three guitar makers. I had an Alvarez that was a superb guitar, but I sold it because it was bigger than I wanted at the time. I paid $381.59 to a seller on eBay. Brand new, in the box. A gorgeous guitar (Alvarez has some of the shiniest finishes) with a terrific sound and action. But, like I said, too large for my tastes.

My recent purchase was the Ibanez AAM50CE, which is a keeper. Also from Guitar Center, but I didn't need (or get) any help from the store drones and it's a keeper, so the story ends there.

But my point is that I think one can get a perfectly fine guitar for under $500.

I have long been on record as saying that Alvarez offers a lot for the money when compared to other guitar brands. I have a Martin Siris that I love, but I'm not feeling like I'm missing anything with the Alvarez.

Gretsch Electromatic double neck steel guitar console. Made in 1955. (my oldest piece). Need to work a bit on the electronics.

Having issues getting a photo to post.

Here's a cross forum post that shows it.

Quirky instrument! No pedals, so kind of like a lap steel? Played with a slide? Is each neck tuned differently, and can you cross over between necks easily?

Yep. It has legs. (It?s a console). I need to learn to play one. I have 3 Pink Floyd and 2 Jackson Browne songs to learn. I?m leaning towards one neck in ?Em and other in G9

Gone is that great sounding Guild OM in rosewood. In is a Martin 000-28EC that is exceptional.

I’ll be selling my Parker Fly to make up the difference.

The EC Start did noting for me. 8 lbs to start with. Yeah it has that active circuit. If I like it that much I’ll put into one of my other Strats.

I heard somewhere else that BuildYourOwnClone is going out of business. They're selling off at 40% off.
So I placed an order for a mini fuzz pedal kit. I've had a bug in my ear to re-examine fuzz - it and I don't really get along. So worst case I'll have some fun building it, and sell it.
But I figure it's worth a try again.

What's wrong with an 8 lb Strat? I gigged an ash one for years that was close to 10.

Wow, this thread's been quiet for over a month. What's up with everyone, you all stop buying stuff? :)
Last week Stew Mac was having a sale on their pedal kits, plus free shipping, so after the foulup with the BYOC order I placed that was unplaced I was still having a jones for a kit.
So I ordered up StewMac's version of the AnalogMan SunFuzz. It came in yesterday.
Looks like a pretty simple box to put together, and I'm looking forward to getting to work on it, though between work, the kiddo's hockey schedule and the usual things of living and home ownership, I'm not quite sure when I'm going to eek out the time.
